Kenosha is home to the oldest operating velodrome in the country so we have track cycling every week all summer.

However, tomorrow (7/25), Kenosha is hosting a leg of the International Cycling Classic. This is touring points tournament that runs for a little over two weeks (this year 7/11 to 7/27).

There are "lesser" events all day with the main event being the professionals in a 100K Criterium (62 miles of repeat laps on a city street course).

This is a big race that draws some big names (of the "up-and-coming" variety). 2005 winner was Danny Pate. He is currently riding for Garmin-Chipotle in the Tour de France where he took 3rd place in stage 15. Back in 2004, U.S. Postal rider, Robbie Ventura won the race. He is also currently in France, but in his case, with the media. He can be seen interviewing active riders.

Yeah, tomorrow afternoon and evening is going to be great!

Boise just finished its Criterium last weekend. The focus was on Kristen Armstrong, a local lady, who is headed for the Olympics who won the ladies' event by a whole lap and a half. A couple of years ago we watched bicycle racing in Baker, Oregon and really enjoyed watching the athletes peddle through the downtown area.
