I'm new here. I posted something that I thought was on topic earlier this morning then a few moments later received an email that my posting was not in the "correct" forum, and since I can't (yet) post in that "correct" forum it was deleted!
Seeing how I have been treated so far, I will have to weigh whether I want to ever post again.

Hmm... that's odd. I thought posts that were on the wrong forum usually got moved, not deleted. Please give us another chance, Ben. We'd love to get to know you.

Welcome Ben! I have found NazNet to be a real blessing. Stick around and I'm sure you will come to love it too. :)

As soon as I get 10 posts, I want to tell all of you about my amazing experience in the Holy Spirit, something I have discovered only Nazarenes and Wesleyans (and a few others) have experienced.

Welcome.
Could you please give us more info concerning your educational background, where you go to church, family, etc. That would make you a bit more 'visable' for us.
Just a few lines in your profile would be nice.
Thanks. Paul

Hi Ben:
The purpose of the rule is for us to get to know you and you to get to know us a bit before we start discussing heavier issues.
Sort of like walking up to a group of strangers at a gathering. Before you start talking to them about theology, you normally make some connections with them.
So, tell us a bit about yourself. And if you would like to know a bit about me I invite you to read my profile.
Blessings and welcome!

Did you read the post entitled "Can't Post in This Forum" at the top of the page? It would explain that some forums are off limits for a short amount of time because they tend to be more emotional or arise stronger passions and we've found it works better to post there only when you've developed relationships with people by posting on less controversial boards.

Ben, I did not mistreat you in the email I sent you. In fact, it was quite diplomatic and I did quote to you from the email you received when you registered which explains that some forums (and topics that belong on those forums) are not open to new comers.
If you insist you have been mistreated, I'll be glad to post the entire text of the message I sent you so that everyone can judge for themselves how you were treated.
Your reaction basically affirms the policy NazNet has had in place for some time now.
Instead, why not just relax and remember that NazNet exists for the purpose of fellowship among members and friends of the Church of the Nazarene? Also, if you do a NazNet search for "sanctification" you'll find, probably a thousand posts on that topic already. Maybe it would be helpful to you to read what others say on the subject before starting your own discussion.

Welcome to Naznet Ben. The board has been around for a long time and has a lot of members and new ones everyday. I think your first experience reflects a lot of experience with people that come to this board with an agenda and is nothing personal. Well this is post 10. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience.

Dear Jim, trust me, I've seen a copy of Scott's post. It had absolutely nothing (repeat, nothing) to do with an attack. Surely you are from a generation that appreciates that rules only have a purpose if they are maintained.
Second, if a disagreement equals an attack, NazNet is a battlefield.

Thanks for your post Hans.
I guess we shouldn't be surprised by the complaints of being attacked, but I am disappointed by them. The rule the moderators enforce prohibits "personal attacks." Attacking an idea or point of view is acceptable. There's a big difference between, "I think that is a bad idea" and "I think you are a bad person."
And, while it seems clear to me that not getting one's own way is not the same thing as being attacked we apparently have some who can't tell the difference. I assume they go through life feeling "attacked" in their day to day life as well.

I see the need for a rule such as this to protect our board from those who would seek to do it harm, such as those who are not sympathetic to the message of salvation or Holiness. It would be very easy to do harm to someone or many by posts that attack, and this would become a war zone, not only between members of NazNet but by outsiders as well.
In this crazy age, with crazy people, (and I am no way referring to Ben) but people who are without God, you never know who youll meet up with.

Scott,
I didn't post in one of the "off limits" forums. I read the rules and followed them by posting my comments in this general forum because I felt my comments were of a general nature. It was you who decided that my comments were apparantly not "general" enough to be on this forum and you decided that the posting should be moved to another forum. The forum you chose just happened to be a forum that I couldn't post in so since I can't post there you decided to delete it. A rather interesting way of moderating I would say.
You are the moderator and you will do what you think is best. I am also a moderator on another site, and our general rule about moderating the forums is "lots of grace" and "no heavy handed moderating."

I took Scott's suggestion and did a search about sanctification. An interesting thread is this one, http://www.naznet.com/community/showthread.php?t=17450&highlight=entire+sanctification
I have also updated my profile for those who are interested.
More info later, I hope! :-)

And I felt that your comments weren't general in nature but were exactly the kind of comments that belong on the theology forum. If you do a search you'll find many, many posts on that topic on that forum.
I sent you about as friendly an email as you'll ever receive, explaining how you had unintentionally broken the rules. You don't have to like my way of moderating, but you do have to cooperate with the moderators if you want to post here.
Again, I suggest you drop the matter and enjoy the friendly fellowship here.

Hey Ben! I think we have a couple of things in common. Are you affiliated with the same Missionary church connected with Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN? My mom's family has a long-time connection with that church and the college.
Our family is also interested in photography...let's just call it "advanced amateur." Check out the photography board here on NazNet.
Welcome to NazNet.

Cindi,
Thanks for the welcome.
Yes Bethel College is the official college for the Missionary Church, and a wonderful group of Christians it is.
I will take your suggestion and check out the postings in the photography forum. I may even post one of mine if I can figure out how to do it!

Hi Ben,
I grew up in the Missionary Church. I graduated from Bethel College. My brother-in-law was a professor at the college when I was there. I have many wonderful friends and relatives in the Missionary Church.
I became a Nazarene 43 (almost 44) years ago when I got married to a Nazarene. Also, there are no Missionary Churches in Columbus, OH. I grew up in a Missionary Church in Dayton, OH.
Welcome to NazNet. Keep posting and then after 10 posts you will be a full fledged member and will be able to go into all of the forums.

Viv,
Wow!
Yes the Missionary Church has never been big on membership. You almost have to beg them to become a member. I never quite understood their thinking. I think there are only about 1/2 million members or so.
