LEBANON, Ind. — A woman accidentally stabbed herself in the foot with a 3-foot-long sword while performing a Wiccan good luck ritual at a central Indiana cemetery.
Katherine Gunther, 36, of Lebanon, pierced her left foot with the sword while performing the rite at Oak Hill Cemetery, police said.
Gunther said she was performing the ceremony to give thanks for a recent run of good luck. The ceremony involves the use of candles, incense and driving swords into the ground during the full moon.
Gunther said was aiming to put the sword in the ground, but hit her foot instead.
"It wasn't the first time I performed the ritual, but it was the first time I put a sword through my foot," she said.
Gunther immediately pulled the sword out of her foot, and her companions took her to Witham Memorial Hospital, where she was kept a couple days for treatment.
No charges were filed, police said. The Wiccans were warned that being in the cemetery in the city about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis after posted visiting hours constitutes trespassing.
Wicca is a nature-based religion based on respect for the earth, nature and the cycle of the seasons.

Ha! An old funny song comes to mind ... remember Hee-Haw's "if I had no bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." :p
What luck she had! Weird ....

Joanne, I am lost in NazNet! My grandson said he found your comment on my quest for information about "Art" Williams in the San Antonio area, in which you asked if Pearson/Harcourt is a publishing business. Yes, especially of educational texts and tests. Mr. Williams and I were working on a scoring project when we met.
I'm not at all sure about how to "post" nor how to find a response to a "shout". I assume there are better ways to post than shouting. ??
Thanks for any assistance you can give to a novice on the internet.

Am I wrong in thinking that Wiccans are in witchcraft?

But it has nothing to do with Satanism.
There have been assertions made that Wicca is a form of Satanism, despite important differences between these religions, such as the lack of a Satan-like figure in Wiccan theology. Due to negative connotations associated with witchcraft, many Wiccans continue the traditional practice of secrecy, concealing their faith for fear of persecution. Revealing oneself as Wiccan to family, friends or colleagues is often termed "coming out of the broom-closet".Wicca Article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicca)

Joanne,
I'm maybe beginning to catch on how this site works. I note that you thanked me for my post. It's always nice to be thanked! And thank you!
Interesting comments about Wiccans. The subject is not of extreme interest to me at the moment, but is worth some thought and prayer. I have a neighbor who professes to be an atheist. I have been trying to be kind and helpful and made him a subject of much prayer. A couple of weeks ago he seemed to be getting more friendly. But a few days ago he became more unfriendly again, rejecting any acts or thoughts of kindness. But he can't keep me for praying for God's blessings on him!
I had expressed a desire to get in touch with a Mr. Williams, whose nickname is "Art". I have now discovered that his first name is Henry. But there are a bunch of Henry and H. Williams in the SA phone book. I don't want to disturb all of them with an unnecessary phone call. I have also found that my friend from who I borrowed the tool says he can get a replacement for just $15, so that angle of my desire to get in touch with Mr. Williams as no longer of great concern. The main point now would be to let him know my phone number so that we can get together for the return of the tool. The matter is probably of greater concern to him than it is to me.
I'm still not sure how to retrieve a post from you or anyone else. Perhaps you could call me, any time between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Central Standard Time, (210-288-1237) or Email me at jamesoh17@yahoo.com
Thanks and blessings.
