I guess you learned how to post because you replied in that thread :)
If you want to start a new thread, simply go to the Forum you want to post in and click on the "new thread" button on the left.
The Shout Box is good for quick, real time conversations with whoever happens to be online. I don't believe the conversations are archived so its not the best place to ask a question to a specific individual, as they might not be on line when you post it.
If I want to contact an individual NazNetter, I usually click on their name and choose either "send a private message" or "send e-mail" from the drop down menu.
