Is anyone aware of a message board specifically for NMI?

I'm specifically looking for information on medicine bottles and whether there's anyone interested in receiving them.

I found the following information, but was curious as to if anyone else was looking for / collecting them.

Plastic pill bottle requests

Rather than throwing away all those plastic prescription medicine bottles, why not send them to a mission field? Here are mailing instruction and an address to which they can be shipped.

Mailing instructions
Size and weight:
Check with your local post office for up-to-date instructions.
Mark parcel:
"Empty medicine bottles - not for resale"
Value:
None (If post office insists on a value, put 1 U.S. dollar).
Shipping costs:
Check with your local post office for surface mail cost per pound.
Forms:
Place a sheet inside the parcel with your name and address and a listing of the contents.
Confirm:
Whenever you mail a box, write the missionary a separate letter telling when and what was sent.
Note: Labels need not be completely removed before sending pill bottles. However, commercial carburetor cleaners such as WD-40 can facilitate cleaning off labels.

Shipping addresses
Nazarene Clinic
P. O. Box 879
Siteki L300
KINGDOM OF SWAZILAND

Thanks for any help that you might be able to provide!!

The last I heard, they didn't need pill bottles anymore. But to get the answer from the official spot, send an email to nmi@nazarene.org or call 816-333-7000 -- 2350

Don't call the NMI office, they don't really handle this sort of thing - calling Compassionate Ministries is a better bet, you can email ncmi@ncmi.org or call 800-214-4999 - NCMI handles all the gift-in-kind stuff for the Church of the Nazarene.

Every district president gets a list of medical needs for every church year. Medicine bottles are still very much needed and wanted.

I will email you what I have most recently received and where to send them.

But you need to be aware that the cost of shipping those empty medicine bottles has skyrocketed. One of our local churches usually sends two boxes of bottles every year. When they took them to the post office it was going to cost $60 to mail them. They found a nurse going on a medical Work & Witness trip who was asking for medicine bottles and donated them to her team. Saved them the postage and provided a need for a Work & Witness team.

Contact the Work & Witness office in Kansas City and ask for a contact for medical W& W teams going out. They could possible take the bottles to a field for you.

Maybe it varies by district? Because my info from the district this year says NO more pill bottles.

There was a notice in Mission Connection magazine during the winter requesting that no more bottles be sent to the hospital in India, I believe. But I still received a page in my LINKs materials for the new year about medicine bottles to Swaziland.

The best route for them is the Work & Witness medical teams who can take them along. But with the cost of luggage now at airports, that may even be hindered.

Ah, that makes sense. I got that notice cuz our LINKS missionaries are retired ones from India.
