The grandfather of a nurse I work with, served in the US army and was stationed in the UK in about 1951. His name was Arnold Montgomery. Arnold fathered a child with a British girl named Marie Blewett. The child’s name is Lee Arnold---not sure if he went by Montgomery or Blewett, and was born April 1952. Marie, aka Mickie, lived at Codrington House, Brady Street, in the Bethnal Green neighbourhood of London. Marie and Arnold corresponded for some time after the child was born and Marie’s letters are in the possession of Arnold’s son (Arnold died about 10 years ago). I did a google search for Codrington House and found it on a corner of Brady Street, near Bethnal Green, not too far off Whitechapel Road (not exactly a good area from the photos I found).
The Montgomery family is currently attempting to locate Arnold and Marie’s son. They have no idea if Marie ever married. They know nothing of what happened with the child and would like to make contact with him.
I have signed up for an online UK phone directory for the London area, and found several Blewett’s but nothing to indicate the location of Marie “Mickie” Blewett or Lee Arnold Blewett/Mongomery.
Any help in locating this family will very much be appreciated.
