I liked the thread about what was your favorite gift but I could answer much easier - favorite gift I gave.
1) my sister-in-law went on a cruise with us in Dec. She loved a Thomas Kinkade that I had an opportunity to purchase at much below the posted price on his site. I had made a small copy and framed it not expecting the real thing to get there before Christmas or New Years when we had Christmas with them. (they had told me 6 to 10 weeks). She was thrilled with the 5 x 7 copy.
2) my nephew (8) I got him a cool Walmart gift cert - his response I got a credit card. Then when his mom told him it was for $10, he jumped up and down and said " I got money!"
3) my nephew (12) - got him a kids digital camera because he loves to take pictures.

I gave my nephews and neice a Walmart card too. My niece thought it was a credit card as well.
As for my favourite gift, I think it would have to be the toolbox full of tools that we gave to our oldest daughter. She had asked for this but still was surprised to see all the tools in the box, each individually wrapped :-)

the favorite gifts i gave this year were:
1) a new "grandma" sweatshirt for my mom... i saw it at meijer in like OCTOBER, and grabbed it because i know they go fast -- she cried when she opened it because her old one (unbeknownst to me!) didn't fit anymore. made me feel good that she was so happy. :)
2) my ABSOLUTE favorite gift was my rachael's (4 years old) "santa" gift this year -- she LOVES horses & pretending to be a cowboy - so she got a pair of red cowboy boots, a red cowboy hat, a stick horse with a plush head, and an ADORABLE denim & red fringe cowgirl outfit (vest & skirt) that my mother-in-law hand made for her...
rachael's reaction was PRECIOUS! and she loves her cowgirl stuff...
too bad my camera was at home and my mom's was broken christmas morning. :( we didn't get any pictures -- but it's very cute. :)

My favorite gift I have given is not given yet. Dana Grant and I seem to be two ships passing, upstream both ways. I have her daughter's gift and Dana's birthday gift from August (I hid and just found) and her Christmas gift. So I can't tell you. I still haven't mailed the gift for Marsha Gupton or mama either. Can you say, calendar challenged. Although I am ready for mama G's birthday on the 11th of this month so I guess everybody will get a prise that day.
My most favorite gift was the gift I gave to my sister. She got a simple little card and a gift card from Visa. She and her friend went out to dinner on me. I don't know what to get my sibs most of the time cuz we are so far apart in many ways. Simple is better.

You two girls are funny. I have one friend that plans her vacation a year in advance and you two are still doing Christmas '05. hahaha
For the record, the two of you received gifts from me BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!
So long farewell (and the rest of that line from The Sound of Music)
The nice things about gifts is that they are good any time you receive them because it is the spirit with which it was given.

... not of a Christmas present, but a birthday present a couple of months just before Christmas. My niece, who had her third birthday then , got this stick horse, too ... I found that practically new at a neighbor's garage sale; one ear did "clip-clop-clip-clop" a few times, then neighed a few times, and snorted.
[I]JEN: "2) my ABSOLUTE favorite gift was my rachael's (4 years old) "santa" gift this year -- she LOVES horses & pretending to be a cowboy - so she got a pair of red cowboy boots, a red cowboy hat, a stick horse with a plush head, and an ADORABLE denim & red fringe cowgirl outfit (vest & skirt) that my mother-in-law hand made for her...

The other ear [squeezed] just did the neighing a few times. Anyway, since I found that so reasonable, I found her a cool felt purple hat at -- guess where -- the dollar store!
A few weeks later, I was calling my niece, and Myla [her daughter] answered. When she found out it was me, she told me [rather sadly, as a 3-yr-old can ;)] how Sally [their darling puppy that she loves] had chewed up her cowgirl hat, so she didn't have a purple cowgirl hat anymore :(, and she'd really like another one.
Well, there were only a couple when I got it a couple of months before, so now I can't find a purple cowgirl hat ... if I don't find one, maybe I'll have to just crochet her some sort of cute hat, but not quite like a cowgirl hat ... not sure how I'd keep the brim up like felt if it were just yarn. ;)

my life is so hectic that i am not able to focus on Christmas gifts until the week of Christmas. This is very different for me. i remember the days when i was finished with my purchases by September 1 - and all gifts wrapped by October 31. Ah - for those days of structure and balance to once again be a part of my life.
Nevertheless, because of my life - this meant that packages to our family were put in the mail two days before Christmas. To ensure their arrive at the appointed time meant a huge financial sacrifice. The price was more that triple what i could have paid.
This Christmas was a Christmas where Garry's mom is alive and we were afraid she would be gone. This Christmas was a Christmas where my dad needed to know that his daughter who was hundreds of miles away still loved and cared deeply for him as he walked the path of releasing his mom to the Heavens.
The greatest gift was giving my presence to them - in the only way i could.

I gave Steve the DVD Sports version of "Scene It." He loves it and says the guys on his base in Iraq will have a great time with it.
I gave John the NIV/Message parallel Bible. It really pleased him, as I knew it would....and surprised him.

The favorite gift I gave was a scrapbook album I put together for my dad. It is so much fun to put these together. He lives over a thousand miles away so he sees us once a year at the most and rarely sees our children and grandchildren. So I know that he is enjoying all these decorated pages with pictures and comments. I'll be doing another one for my mother-in-law's birthday in March.
Last year my oldest daughter gave me a homemade scrapbooked calendar - I enjoyed it so much that this year I hated to take it down so I made up new monthly calendar pages for 2006 and stuck them over the 2005 ones so now I get to enjoy the pictures all over again! :)

I got my oldest son Danny a tie that had his daughter's picture all over it. I ordered it from a magazine (one of hundreds you get before Christmas). You sent in a picture with the order. I was afraid it would look kinda tacky but it doesn't. It is a really nice looking tie and my son said it was his favorite gift (ever). So I was pleased with his response.

(Edited to laugh at my signature. I was talking about my son so I automatically signed the post with Mom instead of Doris.

I don't know which one was my favorite. I just love giving gifts in general. Probably the handmade ones (like the knit or duct tape purses for some of my friends), because all the work was worth it to see someone smile.
(Edited for the crazy color I accidentally chose)
