Today we had an awesome service. For the first time in our 8 plus years here, John did not get to preach because God took over and people obeyed.
We started with the praise chorus, "Great is The Lord," and then a greeting time.
We had a worship sequence on grace and John sang, "His Grace Still Amazes Me."
And then there were several spontaneous testimonies.
After a praise chorus sequence then pastoral prayer we had a special song by visitors.
We had a couple visiting our service who got married 52 years ago and immediately started their ministerial call here as minister of music and youth pastor. They had come "home" to celebrate their anniversary where their ministry started.
They have kept in touch with a man who was raised in this church but has been away from the Lord for many years. Since email came to both homes, they have kept in touch regularly. So, when this couple came today, this man came also.
As this couple sang, the Lord began to minister to hearts. And YES, this man is one of those who came to the altar and was reclaimed.
After the altar service, there were testimonies of praise and victory!
God's prevenient grace at work.
What a refreshing and encouragement for our entire congregation.
And, we had 3 couples with children, related to each other, who visited our worshp today, searching for a new church home. Two of the couples have just moved near our town. All are in their late 20's and early 30's.....and THAT is encouraging. We will be contacting them and praying that they return.
These visitors saw a loving church family experiencing spiritual victories.
One young man saw our name and asked if we had ever lived in Bernie. We pastored there from 1978-85. He said that he had dated one of the young adult gals in our church there and her family had told him so much about us and how they loved us and what a wonderful pastor John is. And now, he has met us and been in our service.
So, you just never know about God's timing. And how wonderful it is to praise God for our wonderful service today...HIS service today!
