This isnt really a sports post so put it here.
Watched on TV as team GB returned on a 747 from Olympics. Planes nose was painted gold, crowds greeting them, Prime Minister shaking ever hand.
This has been Britians most succesfull Olympics ever, a fantastic succes for such a small country. Whole nation is full of pride at acheivment. I find it interesting how sports success, or sports failure, can affect a nations emotions.

I don't think Idaho qualifies as "the colonies," at least not in reference to the UK.

The UK laid claim to the Oregon Country (which included Idaho) until ceding it to the U.S. in the mid 1840s. I don't know if that makes the former claim a "colony" or not though.
