I saw an article about the Roman Catholic church abandoning the doctrine of limbo that explains what happens to babies who die before being baptized. For a very long time, unbaptized babies went to 'limbo' which wasn't as bad as Hell, but wasn't heaven either.
The new pope apparently agrees with people who thought limbo was a rather extreme destiny for innocent babies with less than diligent parents. Now they're worried that the urgency for infant baptism may be eroded.
I've heard there is a lucrative market in selling preemptive forgiveness for one's sins.
