Some of you might have read a post I made a few weeks ago about the importance of having a correct conception of God. Basically, thus far, I believe that this is what this book deals with.
From my experience on this board, I still think that some still do not understand the real God, or the real Jesus. I think that many of you see God being like a mild and meek old man, who never raises his voice against anyone or never crosses anyone's opinion, because he doesnt want to cause "waves". I have read the scriptures for many years, and to me this is as false of a view of God as you can get.
Go through the scriptures with an open mind and you will see that Jesus was no weak and mild person. He went into the temple, grabbed a whip and overturned the tables, scattering the money everywhere and stood up and with a determined voice said "My house shall be a house of prayer." He called out the Pharisees for what they were, full of pride and selfishness, telling them their prayers would not be heard. He challenged the rulers of that day in no small voice. Jesus walked unscathed through a murderous crowd. He did not hesitate to expose the hypocrits of that day. He was regarded by some of the authorities as dangerous. Some of you people picture Jesus as someone who wouldnt say boo to someone, because you think it is unChristian to start what you call trouble, when it is not trouble, it is taking a stand for what is right and honest and true. Thats why when some of us do a post on here and say the truth as best as possible and it goes against your grain, you immediately either delete that post or say that this person is attacking. It is because your conception of Jesus is all made up of love, meak and mild soft mushiness, and anyone who is going to be like Jesus HAS to be that way. Its a false conception. It is far from the truth.
Do I remember Jesus telling someone they were like rotten sephlecures? If I put that statement on here, I would be deleted from this board in a flash.
Still some others on here sing the old song that goes

Jesus Lover of my Soul,
Let me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high;
Hide me oh my Saviour hide
Til the storm of life is past
Safe into the haven guide
O receive my soul at last.

There have been many that have said this song only shows how much escapism we have as Chrsitians. It shows our immaturity in not facing up to the storms and troubles of life. I say it only shows a simple trust in knowing that the Father can keep His children safe and strong against the fiery darts of a devil. Is it escapism when the child of God fly to their refuge? Jesus Himself said come unto me. He said seek and you shall find. He calmed the storm on Galilee when his disciples were afraid....was that all escapism? Are we so independent that we fail to place an unswerving trust in God when our ship is in a storm? That shows our lack of faith and without faith we can not please the Lord.
These are some questions that have come up so far as I read and I am only in the first chapter. The title of this chapter is "Unreal Gods". Seems to me we have some of these. Seems to me we better get rid of them.

Yes - interestingly Jesus didn't act like a typical zealot ... He went to the core of matters.
Meek? Definitely - from strength. Definitely not "mild"
This is an annual "must read" for me.
