I am at the point of reviewing my communications costs. One of the components is the fax line. I have a dedicated fax line. Last month, it cost me $22.76.

One of the options I am considering is an email fax service. I see that there are dozens available. Do any of you have an email fax number? If so, what are the issues I should consider. Do you recommend a specific service?

I have one, and it works, but I rarely use it for the simple reason that I have very few people that send me faxes. The system is simple though, you just get an email with the fax as a file attachment. I'd say there is very little reason to maintain your dedicated fax line.

Dave, if you are going to receive less than 20 a month, there is a free service. I haven't used it, but it looks like it might be a good deal:

I signed up for efax several years ago just to say that I had a fax number. It was free. If I remember right, there were no problems setting it up or using it. I had very little activity, and eventually it died away.
