question: If I DL'd something I shouldn't have [first time on this newer computer -- last labor day -- for something like this, so I'm upset!], is this the time to go into the registry to be totally rid of it?
Liking word games, I DL'd "Boggle Supreme" ... did the virus scanning before opening it; nothing showed up (they're getting slick, huh, making them unable to be detected??) ... so I installed. Last night I played only 2-3x (lasts a whole 3 minutes each), closed it, and then opened it this afternoon. NOW it already says: "trial period over," leaving only two options: "buy" and "close." WELL, looks like they're devious enough to infect you if you don't buy it ... maybe even then, one might remain "infected."
Went to control panel, "add/delete programs," and it supposedly was deleted. Then spybot pops up saying it found "UNWISE.exe" related to "BOGGLE." So, I did a "search" for "boggle," found 21 items yet on the computer; tried to delete ... "cannot delete ..." message appeared. So, then did an "UNwise.exe" search ... four places. "Delete" supposedly took for that one ... but what about the rest of "boggle" found 21 times!? BTW, this was from YAHOO games ... tho't they were to be trusted; they supposedly scan things coming in your mail, even ... hmmmmmm .... (?!?!?!?) :(
Tho't Spybot was to stop things, too, not report them after they're there! :( Have ZoneAlarm, too ... have to find it there, I suspect, and tell it to *not* accept it, after I told it last night when no virus was detected to allow it! Again ... :( :(
Really want to make sure that every last bit of this thing is off of here, because if it's tracking *anything* I won't dare do anything re CC# etc on here, as I've already done in the past. Yes, tho' I'm usually very punctual, around Christmas I got distracted and ended up paying 3-4 things on-line to get it done in a timely manner, not wanting to be late due to Christmas mail hang-ups.
HELP!! Thank you!!
