I've been out taking fall pictures like everyone else. I'll post a link soon. We have a lot of old houses in town. Many of them have been kept up real well. This is one of my favorites. They always decorate it real nice for Christmas too.

We always call those "Gingerbread Victorians"...although I'm not sure why. Nice house, and good photo.

That's such a beautiful house. It's pretty sad when the first thing I think when I see it is, I wonder what their heating bills are like?

I love old victorian homes. I would love to see the inside. I have always said a house isn't a real house without a porch you can sit on.

Thanks, Joel, for posting photos of this gorgeous home. As one interested in historic preservation, old homes like this always get my attention. Many of the Victorian homes I have seen are painted in extremely bright colors which, to me, doesn't present them in the best light. I prefer the colors a bit more subtle and more in harmony with the environment. Eureka Springs, AR is a small mountain tourist town which has many of these Victorian homes and people come from everywhere to vacation there and enjoy the quaint town.
Long time friends, Bob and Claudia Wright, own a Bed & Breakfast in downtown Oklahoma City which is an old Victorian mansion formerly owned by the affulent and influential Maney family. They have done a wonderful job of preserving the "feel" of an earlier era in downtown OKC. People enjoy the B&B and Claudia told me that a great portion of their business is repeat guests because they enjoy staying in an old Victorian home. You may check out their house at www.bbonline.com/ok/grandison/
Do you have more photos of those pretty homes you could share with us?
Thanks, again,
Joel Merrill

I don't know who owns this house. I'm sure it is as nice on the inside as it is on the outside. I can imagine that it is also furnished with lots of period antiques. We looked at an old home up the street from us that was for sale a few years ago. It was not nearly as fancy as this but I would guess that it was built in the 1870's. It was a brick house and needed tuck pointed pretty bad. It also didn't have any insulation in the walls and would have been murder to heat and cool. I love the interior wood trim and wall paper in older houses. It's a much more homey feel than most of the modern houses with very little trim and plain white walls. One thing I don't like about older homes is that they often have very small rooms and very steep stairways.
