Bill Evans

Okay, this is an obvious follow-up to the thread if you know of someone with a famous name. But this is different. Do you share a name with anyone that is famous? Bill Evans is also a famous jazz musician or a New York City weatherman.

Shea Zellweger

Well, my first and last names are both independently famous. There's Renee Zellweger (distant or no relation, please don't ask), and then there are folks such as George Beverly Shea, Shea Hillenbrand, and of course, Shea Stadium (RIP). My name has also been retired by the Mets, who happen to be mine favorite team.

Jon Bemis

Let's see . . . Maybe not a person, but Bemis is the name of a common brand of toilet seat, and my first name is Jon . . . . .

My namesake was a well-known U.S. Navy officer (retired Admiral) who is famous for exploring all around the world, especially the Antarctic.

... without which it might be a tad hard to find something to eat! ;) [well, guess one could have a fridge in the livingroom, huh?] ;)

Jeremy D. Scott

Yes, Jeremy Scott is a fashion designer (And a crazy one at that! Check out his website (http://www.jeremyscott.com) where you can see some of his crazy designs). (I've had FB friend requests by people who hoped I was him.) There is also another Jeremy Scott in the CotN, who (just like me) has a brother named Jeff. I began using my middle initial in college for a number of reasons, but this is one of them.

Jim Franklin

Another James Franklin was Benjamin Franklin's older brother to whom Ben was apprenticed in the printing business. Ben took advantage and wrote the first newspaper comic piece on "Silence Dogood."

I used to teach in Franklin County, Washington and all over the nation there are places (streets, towns, counties etc.) and businesses using our family name. There even was a proposed state of Franklin which would have been part of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. If you do a search of the State of Franklin you will find it.

My mom named me after her two favorite Apostles-John & Paul but because her and my dad worked on a Navy base and the association with John Paul Jones she reversed the order. Or was John Paul what my dad wanted, but... Maybe I have the order my mom wanted all along. I just don't know any more.
