Is anyone using a Blackberry?

Do you like it?

I'm thinking of getting one.... and I need some input.

Jon,

I am using a Nokia 9500. It is not a push technology, but other than that, I like what it does. It's virtually a small PC in a telephone format.

Jonathan, I have had a Blackberry for about 2-3 months. A friend purchased it for me. I thought it would be fun and cool, but I never dreamed how much I would love it. In my opinion, they are a great tool. One takes the place of my laptop, pda and cell phone. The Qwerty keyboard is not a problem, like I thought it would be. The only thing I miss is voice dialing.

It is nice to take a trip and not have to tote my laptop.

I am also thinking of getting one. What model # would you recommend? I'm with Verizonwireless now with my cell phone. Would I be better off staying with Verizon or go with another carrier?
My old Handspring is getting old and needs replaced.

Larry, if you go to blackberry.com, you will find a listing of their models. The last two digits of a model is a code indicating which service can use it. Verizon uses models ending in #50. I have a 7250 because it has more memory than the 7750. I am with Verizon and have had no problems.

Two things to keep in mind: 1. Set up is complicated, at least it was for me. 2. Blackberry was just found guilty of patent infringement. Some news reports hyped it and said they may close down. That won't happen, but you need to ask Verizon what they will do if that does happen.

I have the unlimited plan--unlimited internet and email. I am going to use it for a while and see if I can cut back. Internet usage has limited value, but I do use it to check flight ontime status etc. I have even read and posted to NazNet using it.

I like it because you can have all your email accounts come into your blackberry. Plus all PDA features--appointments, contacts.

It has made me at least feel like I am managing better.

Will be interesting to see what happends as many of the Government people that are hooked on the Blackberry now has to decide on it's fate :-)

Well,

I couldn't resist a deal....

I got a 6280 for $50.00! While it's not the latest or greatest... it should do the job for me. At least until I can decide if I really want to go this direction. Setup seems pretty straight forward and I can sync with Outlook and my old Palm..... I'm using Cingular for now.... my contract expires in April.....
