See...this is where losing threads is slightly frustrating: I can't prove that I said Roy Halladay would dominate the NL, but I swear that I did.

Actually, what I said was that I thought he was a much better and more deserving pitcher than Zach Greinke for last year's AL Cy Young Award. Now, I have no complaints that Greinke got it, but my main point is so far this (very short) year proving true. My point was that Halladay's numbers were incredible considering that he faced the AL East multiple times throughout the year and that Greinke had barely had to face the toughest division in baseball.
Through four games in the NL, Halladay is 4-0 with a 0.84 ERA. It's very, very early, and my point could yet be proven wrong, but for now, it stands.

You definitely did. I remember it, because it was one of those rare sports conversations where we all just ceded the point.
You know who else is tearing up NL Batters? Mike Pelfrey. (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7807) 3 starts, 3-0 (on a team that only got 3 other wins over the course of those 3 starts) 21 IP, 0.86 ERA, and a save. He hasn't allowed a run- earned or otherwise- since the 2nd inning of his first start, putting him at 19 consecutive scoreless innings. He's also got a 16/8 K/BB ratio.

You know who's on the other end of that? One Jake Peavy is getting swallowed up by the AL right now.

After the trade that brought Halladay to the Phillies, I went around to all of the Phans I know, telling them to get ready to fall in love. They didn't understand - now they do.
The conversation on Philly talk radio this week was that Doc is the greatest Philadelphia sports athlete since Reggie White.

I'm going to guess the day that Roy suffers a string of losses, many Philly fans will be ready to write him off. Just have to let the NL batters get used to facing him.

Is Philly really ready to go right to calling him "Doc?" It seems like another physician still holds an important place in Philly lore, right?

I have heard the moniker used on talk radio.
Since Dr. J retired over 20 years ago, an entire generation of fans did not see him play.
