Based on a conversation in another thread I would like to ask this question. How did you become a Christian? What were the events and pieces in your life that God used to bring you to the point where you began your journey to Christ following? I will write mine later but since I have to preach in the morning I am going to be a good steward of my Saturday night and go to bed.

The short version: parents that were what might be called cultural Christians. Sporadic attendance as a child at Methodist church services and Southern Baptist Sunday school. Friends and one cousin witnessing to me about the need of salvation. Father saved and whole family joined Methodist church. Knew I was not saved. Deep conviction following AoG revival service. Came to salvation May 29, 1967 result of televised Billy Graham crusade.

I grew up in the church [CotN] in a committed Christian family. I can't recall when I was saved. But I was sanctified by age 15.

In June of 1942 just before I reached my 5th birthday at the end of the month my mother was conducting Vacation Bible School and asked me if I wanted to accept Jesus into my heart and I said, "Yes" so we prayed together and I did accept Jesus at that time and have tried my best to follow and serve him ever since. There have been stumbles but who amongst us has not stumbled? Soon that will be 68 years ago.

I became a Christian by believing what I was told. Having been raised in a Christian family, I do not recall a time I did not believe the gospel.

As a child my parents and I went to church. Parents were very involved. Something happened when i was 10-11 and we switched churches and eventually quit all together. Mom went with her boyfriend and dad moved into the bar. I was left to raise myself.

Sex, & drugs, & Rock-N-Roll, over and over again. Prison (13 years worth). Agnosticism to full blown Christian persecuting neo-atheist. College, grad work in molecular cell biology. Yes, I was that atheist scientist. No job, back to dope, utilizing all those years of chemistry (kinda like Breaking Bad). Prison again. Got clean, mind started working again, started being able to hear God saying, "Follow me." through prevenient grace. Paroled an atheist into a Christian recovery program because the secular programs wouldn't have anything to do with me due to my criminal history. Studied and accepted Christ 14 October 2005. Started answering the call to full-time ministry in early '07. Will receive my first district license Friday 30 April at Sac District Assembly.

There is NO going back.

(the very short version)

Thank you for listening.

That is sad about what happened to your parents.

Thank God for prevenient Grace for all of us - whether from those saved in childhood all the way up to those later in life who can definitely remember a place, time and definite need for a lot of God's Grace.
