As as lifetime Cowboys fan, this season has been a monumental - colossal dissapointment. What do you all contribute to the disaster the 2010 season has become? How much of it is coaching? Can they salvage the season? Who will replace Wade and when? What would you do if given the reigns of the Cowboys.

The disaster of the cowboys is a man named Jerry Jones.

The disastrous Cowboys season is a combination of factors that begin with unmotivated players, uninspiring coaching, ownership meddling, and just plain hard luck. Better luck next year, this one is starting to slip away.

I would sell them and buy another team for less money and start over.

FWIW: According to 2008 numbers, I could sell the Cowboys for $1.5 Billion and buy the Steelers for $1 Billion. So I would have the Steelers' players and coaches and $500 Million in my pocket.

I dont think the 2008 stats reflect the debt Jerry has with his new stadium which I think is the primary reason Jerry is concerned with the play his Boys have been providing.
I think Jerry fires Wade if they are embarrassed in GB. But I think the Cows pull off an upset in GB with a healthy Oline, better running and a healthy return to to basics...even with Kitna.

Ok so the upset didn't HAPPEN...but the Embarrassment DID. Wades Gang better get packing..wonder who will in the interim replace him. I hope its not Jason Garrett. I am pulling for Bill Cowher to take the job and have been for 2 years now.

I am voting for Cowher too. Please please please.

The nice thing about the Cowboys if they have this huge screen at their stadium so that you can see how really bad they are...
Love the quote from the coverage last night, "The Cowboys got back to the basics this year, they are basically bad."

If Cowher takes this position, I hope Jones will be willing to give up GM control. Otherwise Cowher will fare no better.

Reports say Phillips is out, Garrett is promoted (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Jones-Heads-will-roll-in-Big-D-after-pathet;_ylt=AuK7Ur7vEoCBSG7y_sQcSQ9DubYF?urn=nfl-283321). I don't really get it... Garrett is the OC, and his offensive leader board includes the RB with the 37th most yards, and the QB with the 20th best Yards/Attempt (since he's out for the season, other metrics don't really tell the whole story). Miles Austin is the only player on the offense who is in the top 10 in any relevant category (Romo has the 2nd highest completion %...). What qualifies this guy to be head coach?

What qualifies this guy to be head coach?
Three things:
1. His name is not Wade Phillips
2. Jerry picked him (and Jerry has all the say, and will exercise it over Garrett numerous times)
3. He looks good on the wide screen.

It will be interesting to see what Jason G. does now. Will he continue to start Marion Barber for 2 plays? Will he pull folks out who have been criticized for no-grit? Will he knock on Jerrys door for every personnel change? He has 8 weeks win his dream job. What will it take? Can he win 50% of the remainder? The odds don't favor it especially with TRomo out.

Personally, I think that Romo is part of the problem. I know his numbers have been good, but I don't think he is that good of a leader. There is just something there that I can't put my finger on.
As for coaches, I would go with Cowher or Tony Dungey, but whoever it is won't do well as long as JJ keeps his nose in it.

I can't see either of these two taking the job. Just my feeling and mainly based on neither of these guys having a style that would mesh with Jones'. Jones will be the next Al Davis.

The problem with the C-boys is one egocentric and arrogant Jerry Jones.
Cowher for the Cowgirls sounds kind of poetic.

Mark,
Tony Dungey is not in the mix for any coaching positions. He has repeatedly said he is done coaching and wants to do his charity work and be a commentator which funds his endeavors. Right now, Cowher is the most likely candidate or possibly John Gruden, but I'm not sure any of them want to work for a persona like Jerry Jones a self proclaimed meglomaniac.
I also think the Romo problem is definitely one to contend with. Romo can put up some good numbers but is no leader on the field or in the locker room. Leadership qualities count for a lot in this league and I'm beginning to think Romo doesn't have that skill set.

I liked what Jerry said following the Jacksonville collapse: that he was trying to put a finger on the problem, but didn't have enough hands. Anybody picking the Cowboys at NYG?
Scott Moseley

Should have picked em! Cowboys came out ready to play and NYG looked out of it as they got caught looking past the Cowboys. J Garrett looking good as HC. Must wonder if he was intentionally tring to get WP fired earlier in the season with his shoddy play calling and clock mgt..?
