All this racing talk . I get lost .
23 posts since here yesterday . Managed 3 hours and 6 minutes with the first one and just 48 minutes with the second one . Won't get much today .
Hey , Susan , we got a ton of wet snow last night . Took forever to melt enough to go . Took an hour and a half to get to church .Traffic was about a quarter what it usually is . I had to take many tries to even get out of my driveway . Wouldn't have but a man who had just passed by across the street came back and crossed over and would tell me when both ways are clear and I could try . 3 or 4 more tries got me ouy=t . Needless to say I was late for church but I made it ! About an hour and a half after I got home Doug did my snow . I rolled my windows down and the snow stayed upright and when I tried to push it out most fell inside . I got covered , my coat and my pants . Took forever to dry off .

I get lost, too, in racing talk. Only one cousin [of those that I am close to] is into it [cuz her hubby is] so there is no need on my part to have to keep up with it, so I don't. Other sports like baseball, football and basketball my family really loves so I try to keep track of things. Ex. I feel so proud of myself for knowing why my cousin Michelle is excited about the TREES. And I feel proud of myself for knowing that I need to tell my mom about the TREES cuz she loved them, too. And I know enough to be concerned if the TREES and the Dawgs get into the final round of the 'big dance' cuz there will be BIG discussion in the famly. I can't begin to describe how smart I feel cuz I know what TREES mean [the Sycamores aka Indiana State University won a Basketball game and will go to the NCAA tournament - 4 relatives are ISU grads] and to know that cousin Mel's alma mater is nicknamed the Dawgs. And Mom refers to the NCAA final four as the big dance. I am so not into sports other than skating, skiing and swimming.

NASCAR, rugby, and curling are about the only sports that I have found that can keep my interest and those I don't even watch that much.

Being mostly a trivia thread here, may as well add once again -- while up for a pit stop 4+/nearly 5am -- [lost in the crash? ;)] that about all I know re Indianapolis 500 is that I fell asleep at it. Tired to fall asleep amidst all that noise! But then the tedium of going in circles ... might think even a driver could be tempted to fall asleep, too.

I wouldn't be able to sleep with the noise, but I agree that it seems tedious to watch people go around in circles over and over

Yes, when a teen went to a few stock car races, tho't it was neat seeing those '69 [et al] Camaros, and ended up w/one years later. However, today I'd not go near such a place ... cannot stand such loud noises!

Susan, after awhile that noise becomes a drone ... and when tired, bored of circuitous meandgerings, it was easy to fall asleep. Was watching it from one of the ground areas, not bleachers, so it was easy to lie down on the blanket instead of staying sitting up, and then ......... ;)

Not only is the title of the thread missing in all the posts, but everyone's name is missing ... found this thread in the fun forum by the # of posts made to it ... highest one there.

ALSO, there's a crazy sliding thing in every post underneath the post that can be moved waaaay to the right, tho' there's nothing to be seen there. In fact, if it's moved just a fraction of an inch, the post disappears. Something's wrong! Hope NazNet's not on its way to yet another CRASH !!! Yikes!

OK, was thinking this slide bar was in every post, as I'd seen it so many times; looked again, after posting this, and it's in many, but not all. More weird than if it were in all of them.

ANYONE? What's up?

I have to be at work at 7:30. Work is 25 minutes from my house. If I want to exercise and get a devotional in before getting ready for work I need to be up by 5:30. I usually end up waking up at 6:30 and late for work. I have trouble getting to bed before midnight and end up not getting to sleep until at least 12:30 or later. Everything I'm reading lately says that we need to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep for our health and longevity. They also recommend keeping the same schedule on our days off that we have during our work week.

That's what they suggest in the articles about sleep. Any activity even television within 3 hours of bed time can keep you awake.

That was me a couple of years ago. My goal now is to be thinking about sleep by midnight. Lately the last few weeks, I have actually been sucessful.

Oh, I usually think about sleep around midnight. And then something happens and I forget about it again.

I'm not in school. I work part time and leave for work around 1:45 PM each weekday.

That's what they suggest in the articles about sleep. Any activity even television within 3 hours of bed time can keep you awake.I used to be able to fall asleep at the drop of a hat regardless of caffeine, lights and activity. But the last 15 years or so I haven't been able to unless I go through all this down time. I am sure it is because I still have anxiety which I didn't have when I was younger.

Oh, I usually think about sleep around midnight. And then something happens and I forget about it again. When anxiety was at its worst [after quitting teaching in 2000], I didn't even think about sleep until 4 am.

Yup, sounds like anxiety is the effect in part. I would recommend mentioning it to your doc. There are some good meds out there than help you manage it with out the trouble costly side effects. I actually had to get on medication or I would not be able to sleep for more than an hour or two at a time due to anxiety. And you can then slowly work your way off the meds when your anxiety starts to drop. Some people even get over it our their body resets itself.

So you are on a swing type shift. When I was a Nurse Aid years ago I worked the 3 to 11 shift and found myself staying up and getting up late. It is a hard habit to break.

I talked with a man tonight whom I have always enjoyed hearing him pray. And I have wondered what makes his praying different than most others' praying. I found out that there was a time after he left Liberia and was going to school here in the US that he never knew from day to day where his daily food was going to come from. He'd pray a lot every day for God to provide. On the days where he had no food, God provided by either taking away the hunger pains or by providing him with food. While he is ok now, he has never forgotten those days of desperation and prayer. That is what has made him different

Just got an E-mail from my second cousin in Florida .Her daughter is finishing up Nursing at a Christian college in Pensacola. She commented that her daughter should use a larger font next time to help some of us older ones reading it . I couldn't remember having a problem and I like to do mine in size 12 .I checked and she used 16 ! I think their computer has a problem(s) . She later said it takes up to a half hour to boot and download E-mail . I think it changes the font as well ! Weird .

Another 2 to 4 inches of snow so unless they are wrong we'll be staying home . Its about 60 or 70 miles round trip if I don't make any wrong turns . Had a looonnnnggggg day today. But, other than being really worn out, not a bad day. Four of us received our local minister's license in church today. Then we had a dinner afterwards. And then this evening went to a small group study for the book "One month to live". It reminded me of the days in which Sunday PM meant church when I'd rather stay at home watching TV or sleeping ;) But, it was a good conversation. Also, I woke up at 6 am to make it to the Episcopal church service that I like. So, a very longggg day.

And yes , the sugar bush trip got cancelled so I had some relaxing time instead . The white world out there sure looks very " spring-like " for the first full day of spring . We are cooler than normal for this time of year but at least it'll be sunny for the next few days . Bring on spring in reality not just by the calendar .

We got a couple of feet of snow. Roads not plowed yet, so waiting awhile before I even attempt to get to work. :smilies0231:

Two feet!? Ugh! Glad I was "down the mountain" instead of "up there" while living in soCal ... tho' I did love to visit your lovely area. ;)

And yes , the sugar bush trip got cancelled so I had some relaxing time instead . The white world out there sure looks very " spring-like " for the first full day of spring . Actually , I'll admit it really looked quite pretty with snow on the branches and a fresh coat on the ground . But if you quote me on that I'll deny it as a long standing member of the IHSC .

Amen to that! DENIAL is the way to go, when the likeability of such a scene is so short-lived ... snow gets dirty fast ... it's pretty at Christmas & on picture post cards, no? ;)

~~ another IHS Club member ~~~

I bought some Spring and Easter stuff this evening. I opened up my jars of Liliac scented candles and thought I would pass out from the smell. It reminded me of why I have never liked Spring. But, I am trying to change my ways and appreciate the other seasons.

Awww, how kind of you ... you fanatical cold-weather/snow-lover. ;)

Yes, we heard the old "cooler than normal" prediction, too, for about the next week it's to be something like 10 degrees below normal! Seems to feel even colder than it did when it returns after a little reprieve.

There also seems to be a trend of mixed sex living arrangements in which a number of young adults share a house or apartment (Threes Company Style) with separate bedrooms, none of them being couples but just sharing rent and household privileges.

Hmmm ... if we haven't yet quoted something we marked to quote in another thread, it asks now if we want to quote it here. Interesting. So, since it did ask, I'll add here -- since this is the "discuss-anything-&-everything-never-ending" thread -- that this doesn't sound all that bad. Tho', again, due to appearances ... it might be much easier sometimes to live platonically with someone other than another gal, b/c that just is often enough not "cool," that it makes sense. :(

Y are you getting scented candles with scents like that?

To broaden my horizons. Instead of just celebrating Fall and Winter, I am trying to celebrate Spring. So, I bought spring scents like lilac and jasmine. Jasmine's ok but lilac - oh my. Growing up we had one in our backyard...now I am remembering why I never wanted to go into the backyard. Lilacs look pretty but the smell is just overpowering to me. In other words, I didn't remember how negatively I reacted as a kid t Lilac. I can do lavendar, jasmine and sweet pea but not so sure about lilac.

Ah my mom had a rose garden and other flowers not sure the other ones. But I prefer flowers that are not as strong since I have allergies. Spring is my favorite time of the year but I allergy problems so I don't get to enjoy it as much anymore.

13 posts this time and a visit from Scott , even !!

Got 13 minutes being last with my first post but a whoppong 5 hours and 56 minutes with the second .

And Susan, I love the smell of lilacs . There used to a street near here that I liked to bike ride on in spring . Lilac trees on both sides of the street , lovely !
One winter at our old church we had lilacs ( the smell ) in February . An animal had died in the pipes and the smell was terrible .Our young pastor at the time donated 2 bottles of lilac aftershave lotion to pour down the registers and it did the trick . Don't think he minded using them for a useful purpose .

Huh!? Is that what you read from Scott's greeting to "last posters"? Think everyone on the thread was being referred to there, since that's it's title. ;)

Good night. Also, if we're the "last-ees," then who is the "last-er?"

Glenda Harvey

I think the last-ees are the late night people. Of course those of us in California tend to to post later than everyone else.
