Oh, they're good! So sweet ............ sweeter than so-called "sweet onions." But so much. First bought them awhile back on sale, and now look for them to be on sale again, as they're a bit much when not. But, oh sooooooooo good. LEEK SOUP sounds good about now! (oh, yeah ... I do have some sweet/french onion soup in the fridge from a cpl days ago to warm up. ;o) Sometimes I'll just take soup out & eat it cold, too.

Actually , it was post 3993 I snarfed not 4000 but I got it by waiting for someone - you , as it turned out - to post and not doing 6 posts in a row to snarf 4000 like Mark or two in a row like Gina to get 4004 .

Got my income tax " mailed " . The box I remembered as white was navy with the Canadian flag on the side . I was so concerned my forms didn't go into a wrong box that I went out and went to see if I had turned too soon and there were more goverment buildings ahead . All I accomplished was wasting gas . I was right the first time and had a terrible time getting back again . No U turns and then no turns and finally when I got to the turn for the buildings again no left turn and the next intersection the same . Glad to have that over for another year . It really was white at one time but may have been changed last year but I still remembered the white one . ( short term memory loss perhaps ???) lol

Here, along with a short while during which it was a tornado warning, there was some heavy rain. Tho't at one time I heard more than just rain, so looked out, and it appeared the hail was about half-inch size. Some folks were having inch-plus/nearly two-inch hail stones, we heard.

When I got up today we had a severe thunderstorm watch and the tornado warning had ended . What tornado warning ? Happy I didn't know about that one .

Just 6 posts today and I got 42 minutes with the first and 6 hours and 8 minutes with the second .
My meeting was cancelled tonight as there was no power . Winds were very strong today blowing the great tall pine trees about . Apparently there are more than 75 traffic lights that are either blown over and dangling, on 4 way flash or just not working at all. I am glad to stay home but I really needed to get gas tonight . By next Thursday I'll be riding on fumes . And now I have to start my car tomorrow just to drive my garbage down to the end of the drive . And this was to be Swiss Chalet night so not only do I have to find something for supper tonight but also tomorrow when I would have had leftovers from tonight.

Well, one of them ocurred too far south for me to have seen it. The first one was at 4:30 am and was asleep during it. But my dad was up then and said that the rain was something to behold. He was also amazed at how a river had suddenly developed in their backyard. The one my friend saw was at 9:30 AM and I had just woken up with a terrible migraine. At that point, decided bed was my best place to be. Didn't even dawn on me to look out my window.

Yeah , I knew post 4100 was coming up but wasn't willing to do several posts in a row to get it . Bed early tonight . Have a good Monday all.
My pastor wrote and said our church was broken into this afternoon . The microphones ,a couple of laptops from his office and some things from the Spanish church's cabinet were taken . More may surface as gone later . Police are investigating but pastor says he has a small clue on what may have happened .
Not good!

Was going to say the same thing , Susan .( only that it was yoiu , not me !)
Wonder of wonders ,Canada now has a majority Conservative government . No more elections every couple years but a stable government for 4 to 5 years .( and a savings of $4 billion on each election ) Guess I didn't have enough faith . Last election I was so hopeful and it didn't happen so just figured it'd be the same this time ! My neightbour and I had supper together after we voted and she was thinking the same as I was . She'll be happy, too .

Oops! Sorry, Susan. Sometimes -- especially when it's late -- I've messed up like that, not paying enough attention ... tired. ;)
[better check the time before claiming I've an excuse, huh?]
Well, I checked. 10:46pm isn't too late ... unless one stayed up most of the night before, then didn't sleep enough, and the whole day was a mite rough. ;)
[also, last night took Ma's car in again due to her having ripped the mirror off on the carport again ... this time jamming the fender against the door enough that too must be tended to so that RH door can be opened (for her to get in, when we drive her where she can't drive).

Regal order? Pray tell what is that?
Regal Gifts Catalogue .Sorry only in Canada . Great items , some as seen on TV , many unique not available elsewhere .They started mostly with cards , stationary and wrap and have really branched out . I did a lot when we had a local store and had sales enough to get 50% off everything and sold it for 40% off . Customers were happy and bought lots . Now its mail order (or phone ) and you have shipping and handling as well .They used to just charge the taxes on what you actually paid but they do like Avon now and charge on the catalogue price . So that and my discount being only 30% now and taking off more taxes and shipping and paying for cataloges usually means only 17 to 20 % savings and now not many want to buy . They have changed the process with out of stocks as well which is a real headache . Used to be you could go ahead and order and pay and then they'd send when available . Now you have to call back after a certain date or dates and unless you have $ 125 order you pay a flat $ 5 shipping instead of 4% .Can make a real difference . I finally got an item I have been trying for for my nephew and his wife for Christmas since December ! Countdown to retirement devices. It was for next CXhristmas so thats OK but I tried 3 times to get them without being successsful . They are a digital countdown by days , hours ,etc to whenyou can retire ! ( They are in their late 30s ) They have some items more expensive but many items in the $10 to 20 range or even less . I love the things they have .
I could give you the on line site so you could look at a catalogue but we aren't supposed to sell outside Canada . I have taken and sent with a friend many items for gifts to family and friends .

On another note the price of gas here went up 6 cents a litre ( 24 cents a gallon ) today and its expected to be another 2 cents higher a litre tomorrow . I'm afraid my shocking '( to me ) fill of $ 60 dollars last week is going to seem cheap next time I buy gas . Apparently the oil companies take per litre was 17 cents last summer and this year its over 30 cents. They will be making even more profit , as if what they are making already wasn't high enough .

I've seen this on friends' fb pages today and tried to avoid them. But I watched it this time. Sure enough, the memories of some super shallow small group bible studies came to mind. One in particular fits this video real well - even down to the squirming when emotions are mentioned.

However, it is enough to entice me to visit the website mentioned at the end of the video to see what other such items one might find there:
http://www.rightnow.org/
Well, we found it to be some serious training place, after all, for small group leaders ... tho' humor is definitely a part of it:
"500 funny video illustrations

There's a cart in the corner, so apparently one has to buy a training course to see these 500.

Enjoying a wonderful day at the Middle School. I haven't subbed here for awhile. I have been reminded why I retired. Aren't Middle School kids unique?

I've never been superstitious about Friday the 13th. Of course the day isn't over in California yet.

Well, I'll be taking some friends to the airport Sunday (didn't know who would do that, & just got a call about it this afternoon), & then using her car while they're gone. Cpl of days while they're gone 4 wks I'll be house-dog sitting while their regular one takes care of something.
Maybe -- if I don't learn tomorrow I'm "the winner" (http://www.naznet.com/community/showthread.php?4834-SOMEBODY-has-to-win-it-...) of a vehicle -- some of the rest of the time I can get a bit of vehicle-looking in and find one for me that's reliable to replace the albatross, tho' I've not gotten rid of it, or any $$$ out of it, yet (mechanic doesn't want it, after all). In general, will be able to get away from here w/o hearing about it just about every time.

Gina, I thought the one good thing [and sure fire thing for you] would be that you had gotten in a palindrome snarf :) But since you didn't take it, I will!!!!!!

I'm not either . Just happened to notice the day and date when I had my devotions this morning .
Apparently the world is supposed to end on May 21st .Not sure who predicted it .
Congrats to Susan snarfing that post -4224 . I was aware it was coming up but wasn't keen enough to keep an eye on the thread .

That's what I thought you were doing with post 4221 which made me start looking for a snarf. Would have never realized it otherwise. So, thank you, Gina!

Hey, guys ... know it's our "fun" thread, but it gets a lot of hits ... and I need prayer.
Here, I finally have a reprieve from auto borrowing, and what happens? Hurt when I took them to the airport yesterday, and then -- out of water -- had to get some. Well, when I'm hurting 8.5-9# gallons might as well be 10#+. Finished me off, but I needed drinking water, due to this rotten plumbing. Ma thinks it's just fine [old galvy pipes that are near 60 yrs old, SEDIMENT clogging everything imaginable, most likely containing lead as old steel pipes do], but I can't stand to drink it.
So, long story short, having a hard time just getting around today. Did NOT move here b/c I was fine, but b/c of $$$ due to crushed back. Yet, I can't get a decent shower w/o going somewhere else (drizzles here), heft too-heavy water constantly, and deal w/screaming on top of that (her mental state). I need OUT of here ... but at least I need to be able to walk decently, and get out of here now & then. ALSO need some clean clothes ... but basement stairs are out of the question awhile now, so I'm wearing shorts in long-pant weather.
Really do need everything on one level. NEVER used to not have laundry up-to-date when living on one level. Thanks ... needed to vent, & need my back health back. Supposed to go a couple days this week to dog-sit/walk them, etc. Well ... they'll have to be short walks ... not doing well myself. Think STRESS affects weak part of one's body, & here it's the old crushed back.
Thank you. [DANG those housing people for losing me; not as if $$$ were the only problem HERE, like w/some people, but much more. Would *HAVE* a place, had they not lost me, but they live in denial, telling me I was never on their list, etc, etc, etc ... so, "newly on list again" last fall, that adds YEARS to the wait, after being lost.]

Praying for you here Gina.
Be careful walking the dogs, pretty easy for a leashed dog to wrench your back.
