Praying for you here Gina.

Be careful walking the dogs, pretty easy for a leashed dog to wrench your back.

So very true , Jim. My doctor's 2 standard poodles pulled her over and she cracked a rib when she fell. A few days later she rolled over in bed and completed the break. And , though I don't know her exact height she must be near 6 feet !

8 posts this time and my one got 2 hours 33 minutes being last .

Got my own little crisis at the moment . Switched on my bedroom light ( overhead ) this am and it flickered and burnt out . Had someone here yesterday that would have changed it for me but of 5 I asked today for help ( including my brother ) , got one maybe in a few days from a friend . Wish I could climb up there myself but have enough problem navigating with my canes and walker on flat ground . I know if I called my pastor he'd come but I don't want to take him away from his work . Year end reports are coming in as he's district secretary .
So I'll get a camping lantern out of the linen closet tonight and make the best of it .

Quick pit-stop post, then back to snoozin'.

Marg, be careful there ... don't go getting impatient & decide to try it yourself. ;)

Got to thinking that some might be wondering, so will "splain":

(1) Ma doesn't care about the shower not working b/c she's always taken "bird baths," too "afraid of water" to get in a shower, and
(2) She also claims, "Nobody's going to take the TASTE out of MY water!" Well, actually, she barely tastes, as we've seen her drink sour milk, tried to tell her, & she said it was fine. What you CAN taste a lot of [aside from the stuff that might not taste much] is chlorine. Gag city to me, & I cannot drink it.

Never drank enough until I learned what water filters were, but this plumbing's too bad for one.

OK, goodnight again. ;)

My parents have lost some of the sense of taste, too. When I protest over some food item at their house, they look at me like I am the nutty one. I don't care...I head for the frig looking at expiration dates and throw out the bad stuff right away.

Susan, you see she screams about so much already, that would give her more to scream about. Some things I have thrown out, and she'll scream at me months later reminding me ... you know, one of those "historians" that never forgets a thing? Ho-hum. So, if it's just milk, I shut up now ... if it's meat or something that could be really bad, yeah, I'll throw it out, & hear her for doing so. ;)

I wasn't suggesting that you throw out like I do. My mom's screaming over it is more like a private joke kind of screaming. If she didn't scream, I would wonder if she was sick or something ;)

I'm afraid that you may be at a bit of a disadvantage here.

Ummmm...........Unless you can manage to get the planet to spin in the other direction. Then again that trick just might cause a few problems on it's own accord.

Once again, America has a great advantage, even in these matters. Our position so near to the International Date Line gives someone here the last chance to post to this thread.

CBS news called today's storm the worst T'storm this area has ever seen. Widespread damage and the worst that locals have seen in their lifetime. Many trees and powerlines down. Over 50,000 homes without power in the area, a tornado, ugly looking skies, trees and some houses down. And there is more on its way. Thankfully no injuries or fatalities reported so far.

I've been keeping up with some of the stories coming out of Joplin, Missouri. The devastation looks pretty awful. I feel bad for those who have lost loved ones or don't know where their loved ones are.

Well thankfully, the weather (at the moment) is a lot milder here. Cold nights (good for snuggling) and pleasant winter days, with beautiful chrystal clear blue skies, and hardly a puff of wind.

But that can change pretty quickly up here in the hills.

Your post brought to mind how many bad storms, floods and tornadoes they are having back east, in the midwest and in the South. I don't think there have ever been so many so close together.Three tornadoes reported in my area from yesterday. One in my county, one across the river and one farther away. Up north, the town I grew up in was completely without power. The whole town! That has NEVER happened. The college had to shut down. That has never happened either. Just a horrible day for the commonwealth. But, thankfully, no fatalities.

then we had another storm today. And another for tomorrow. God, make it stop please :praying:

I had just 4 kids in Junior Missionary today and the first craft we made , left over from last session took longer than I expected so we didn't get as much of the rest done .
Funny weather today as well. Cloudy when I left home , started raining just after I got my breakfst at McDonald's , had to have the wipers on high on the Queensway it was really coming down , and had almost stopped when I reached church (11 miles from home across the city ) And later the sun came out but with the high humidity the humidex made it 81 !! It had felt a bit chilly earlier .

Am here early so later posts will get counted tomorrow . 8 posts so far . My first got 2 hours and 10 minutes and the second 3 hours and 38 minutes .

In the Hershey area, there are: Hershey Amusement Park, Hershey Museum, Hershey Gardens, Hershey Hotel [a resort with a chocolate themed spa], Outlet shopping as well as the town of Hershey which can smell like chocolate sometimes. There is also the Giant Stadium that has well known acts preforming there, and the Hershey Bears which is minor league hockey. That is just in the Hershey area. There's tons more beyond that with an hour's driving distance. I'm surprised the pictures turned out as well as they did. The 4 tornados we had last week really did a number on the roses.

BREAKING NEWS: Contagious Laughter spread by never ending thread.

After an extensive investigation, the cause of the disappearance of Dr. Phineas Breezy has been discovered. Dr. Breezy, a researcher at the Little Moose Center for Climate Change Research, was attempting to prevent a post on the infamous Naznet when he accidently raed one of the posts. Breezy was seized by uncontrollable laughter and has not be heard from since. The site in question, Naznet, is reportedly the root of pixel shortage and global warming, but now it may be spreading something even more deadly...Contagious Laughter (CL). The thread causing all of the trouble is a groups of people competing to see who will be the last one to post. This exposes a large number of people to the disease, and as it is never ending, the outbreak may continue.

Symptoms of CL may include giggling, falling to the floor, aching sides, chuckling, and laughter of any volume. If you recognize any of these symptoms, stop posting or reading Naznet immediately. Another disorder OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Posting Disorder) may be related to CL. If you have OCPD, you are at even greater risk for CL and must stop posting immediately. As one researcher says, "The only cure is complete separation from the thread. Do it for you own sake and for all those reading what you post...and the childern."

I don't know if they tasted good or not. I made the "healthy" version. I like healthy stuff but the person for whom I am making them may not agree. I've emailed my cousin to see if I did something wrong but she hasn't replied yet. It might just be that it has been so long since I made cupcakes and from scratch that I don't recognized them.

Were the strawberries a bit juicier than the recipe creator expected, and the extra liquid helped them remain a bit flat? Even so, bet they taste OK. ;) Sometimes if that's the case, just a bit more flour (& raising agent, to counter the extra heaviness of extra flour) can help texture. ;)

Were the strawberries a bit juicier than the recipe creator expected, and the extra liquid helped them remain a bit flat? Even so, bet they taste OK. ;) Sometimes if that's the case, just a bit more flour (& raising agent, to counter the extra heaviness of extra flour) can help texture. ;)
They weren't extra juicy. But my cousin, who does a lot of baking, suggested a little bit of extra raising agent. I'm going to try again and see what happens.

I remember the first chocolate cake I made from scratch. I was around 10 years old. I think it weighed several pounds.

Hopefully, mine doesn't come across that way for my friend [baking these for friend's son's bd].

I hope so. I bought a cake mix just in case.

I think it is the oven as well as pans I bake them in. I made a cake mix, followed the temp suggestion and they still turned out nasty. I made a new batch of strawberry cupcakes from scratch but added in some baking powder and used dark pans this time. They rose nicely. I don't know if I needed the baking powder or not as the cake mix used with shiney pans [which should have all the needed ingredients] turned out nasty.

My only excuse when I give these to my friend will be that I need more practice on desserts. I haven't made cupcakes since I was 10 or so... I am more a muffin person.

I'm sure your friend will appreciate your efforts and as long as they taste good that's all that matters.

14 posts this time . Got 2 hours and 17 minutes with my first and 8 hours 45 minutes with the second . Wont get that today .
Just a thought . Should new posters to this thread be required to read all precious posts ? I don't think I could handle that . Just joking , of course . But just think of all the educational tidbits they would miss !

I think someone who goes through a reads all 4474 posts should be declared the winner! Although not sure how they would prove that they read them all.

Maybe not the winner, but at least some sort of

Congratulations to Mark on his latest snarf - # 4477 .Came very close to having that myself but didn't realize it was significant . Was going to post a 2nd one early this morning but Gina was still on NazNet so figured I 'd only get a minute or two .Then Gina was off and Glenda was on . Then both Glenda and Gina were both on .This went on for nearly 2 hours so just quit checking about 4 : 30 AM and went to bed . Would have been worth if to pull off a snarf though !!!

Only 6 posts this time and my post got just 11 minutes .

As a kid watching this stuff I never quite got all the humor. Now decades later I find it quite funny.

Welcome back , Benjamin . You're llke a fresh breeze after all this time .

Hope you are feeling better , Susan . Maybe its the heat adding to things for you , Miss Snowflake .

10 posts this time . Managed 1 hour and 1 minute with mine . Better than I expected .

After having the A/C in the house off for a few days put it back on yesterday when I got home . Now I'm cold again . The last time it was on nearly froze me . If it comes on again I override it .

Heat's not an issue this time. It is an infected emotional wound that is really affecting me. As the wound heals, issues I have stuffed are becoming unstuffed so that I can deal with painful issues. Some issues are just super painful.

To add to my stress, dad had a probable TIA last night. His father and my mother's sister had these frequently. This is dad's first and he has learned from their mistakes and will be seeing a neuro as soon as he can.
