Lost power for 8 hours today. Then when it came back, I lost my phone line and dsl. So I am at Amercian Bread Company using my netbook. I have a serious problem - I was anxious and felt like I was dying whilst waiting for my internet. Now that I have it, I am happy as a clam. That doesn't sound good.....

But do feel fo ryou Glenda. My aunt in Poway was complaining up a storm about the heat. She has no AC cuz my uncle from Hawaii lived with out it when it ws a kid, there fore he doesn't understand our need for AC.:smilies1722:

We never had A/C here when I was growing up . I had it installed in 98 with a new furnace . I had an A/C unit in my bedroom as I worked nights and it was hard to sleep otherwise. Think that was in the mid 80s . It was the year the Bill Gaither trio came in May and Bill commented on the " warm " welcome we gave them . That was an exceptionally hot May .

I live in the mountains. The Realtors always tell prospective buyers that most of the houses up here do not have air conditioning because we don't need. That may have been true 30 0r 40 years ago but as long as I have been up here there have been days when we have really need it. When the temperatures hit 105 to 110 down below it is in the 90's here.

lives may proclaim the extravagance of your love for all. Through Christ

Mom sent dad to the store to buy a few items for the salsa...came back home saying that the catfish 'just jumped into the grocery cart' and could Mom make it for him... I couldn't eat something like that either. Reminds me of when I was in Mexico for Youth in Mission. My friends and I were helping out a local Mexican Indian village. We enjoyed petting the little lamb they had there on the last day. After our lamb dinner, we urban gals suddenly noticed that our new pet was missing from its pen. Suddenly that dinner had a different feel in our stomachs.

Anyways, the catfish part of yesterday was not from scratch ;). Mom didn't have to clean it or deheaded it, etc. Thank goodness!

Just 3 posts this time . I managed 44 minutes with the first and 10 hours and 43 minutes with the second .

It's going down on record for how bad the flooding is. We got 5 inches of rain TODAY. 4 inches during Irene. So, within the last week - 9 inches of rain. When the river crests on Saturday, it is predicted to be the 4th highest level on record. With one more inch of rain [which we'll get by the end of the week], we'll go on record for being the 5th wetting year on record. Nearby Hershey is in a worse state since they are in a lower, flood plain. My street is partially closed. I can go north but not south on it. An area public school couldn't get the kids home so they have to spend the night at the school. An other area will need to be evacuated since it is in a flood plain near the river.

Those cities are in the western part of the state. I am in the south central. The western part did not receive much rain if any this past week. We got 2 more inches over night. So our amount is in 3 days time 11.19 inches of rain. Hershey, PA is under water.

Was wondering that , too, yesterday when I realized it would come up soon . Guess Mark is our official snarf judge . But I think we could together decide it was one as we are the most consistent posters here ! I vote " yes! "

Guess you'll have to suffer with only cold weather then ... better than freezing rain, or snow, either one ~~ in my book, tho' I'd much prefer warm, period.

I hear that. As much as I like the snow in northern Maine, there is way too much rain the rest of the year. In the last three weeks my framing crew has only worked six days because of rain.

Today was a nice sunny day in the low eighties, too hot for me but everybody else thinks it's nice. Around two o'clock I had to make a trip to fetch some materials. As I left the job site it began to sprinkle, soon it was raining hard enough that the wipers couldn't keep up. By the time I got back the rain was over. What timing!

Tonight they are predicting breezy in the middle forties. I've got the windows open and I'm loving it. Of course my wife just might want the windows shut as she is of a different opinion.

Checking in again. Never get a chance during the day anymore. Hope all is well everyone. Good night until next time.

My week has worsened. My chuch buddy, Maxine, is dying. She's 85. While on one hand I am ok with this as this is what 85 year old people do. But on the other hand I am a basket case. In the five years I've known her, she always knew when I needed prayer - even before I knew I needed prayer often times. She was always praying for my sick friend with depression and cancer, too. I could rest easy during crisises because I knew that she had my back so to speak.

Pray that God sends me someone with that level of dedication and love, plz. Thanks.

Definitely local ... can't call someone X-country and say, "Hey, please meet me for coffee. Gotta talk!" (& probably if the phone's not good enough then, there's a need for a hug or two, as well, which cannot too well be administered long-distance. ;))

We don't have near that amount of wet , here , Susan . Enough and maybe too much but not excessive. Rather depressing with that much rain , I'm sure .
One year at Family camp when we had Jim Diehl and Danny Steele as workers ( Steal of a Deal they said ) It rained and rained and rained . Those close enough went home for rain gear but we were 211 miles from home so my mom wore plastic bags in her shoes and I wore flip flops and carried a bag with shoes , socks and a towel . It rained so hard when Dr Diehl was speaking one time that he had to stop talking as we couldn't hear him . ( metal roof on tabernacle ) . After than I always brought boots just in case .

And I am beyond exhausted of seeing ponds where they shouldn't exist. Ground is so saturated that even the half inch of rain today or so caused lots of water in the road.

Sorry to hear that. We have pretty much the same situation here, it has rained at least a couple of days a week for the last couple of months here.

I am reminded of an old farmers saying that says "it can't snow until the swamps are full." Hoping that we will see snow early this year!

I would agree! That would definately be a steal of a deal! Other than the rain, I would have enjoyed that camp for sure!

That's sounds so nasty. But yet is also that same sense of what I've been through - being totally surrounded by wet.

Ok, I made out my quickie budget for Financial Peace University. A little under 10% of the budget is spent on medicines. hmmm....

Correction, 8% is spent on medicine.

Hey, Marg! T'other day I read that often you and Susan are holding down the fort alone here. Well, tho' I don't post everyday [nearly, but not quite], I'm usually there with ya, thanking our in-house statistician ... don't notice those notes at the bottom of your posts, eh? ;)

Is it cheating if I write a script that automatically makes a new post for me every time someone else posts? I never saw any rules so I'm guess it's fair :)

Hmmm....think Marg and Gina would probably find a rule or make one that vetos this quirky idea of yours.

If that happens I am sure Gina will agree that we need to put a stop to it as soon as possible . Might have to ask Scott to assist as I have no idea how to do it but it sure wouldn't be very fair . And NazNet is all about fairness ! We are all on equal footing !
Just thinking that if that couldn't be stopped that would bring an end to this thread very quickly as all the fun part would be gone !

9 posts this time and I just got 47 minutes with my first and 1 hour 31 minutes with my second .

Knowing that such things may be possible, I'd have to say, "not kosher" ... after all, you could be raptured & still posting! :smilies1722:

Oh, yeah ... someone could put a stop to it, Marg! (think so, anyway) :praying:

Seems I recall some time capsule. That's a show I'd not mind seeing from the start, in consecutive order, since the mish-mash they seemed to show here, in no particular order, when it was on afternoons, well .......

Anyway, I did like to watch that, since I'd not seen it the first time around years ago. It's not available now, tho'; they seem to rotate various oldies in certain slots.

7 posts this time. Only managed 40 minutes with the first and 39 with the second .

Aside from BB barking they weren't that noisy today digging up the water pipes .Unfortunately they haven't even made it half way yet . Not sure how many hours they were actually here though as they had left before I went out and came back much laterafter I returned . So guess I get a repeat tomorrow but this time I'll not have gotten most of my sleep before .

Hello Naznet world!

From today's Moravian Text Reading -

Psalm 110 Lamentations 3:16-66; Hebrews 9:1-10

Remember me, O Lord, with the favor you have toward your people. Oh,
visit me with your salvation. Psalm 106:4 (NKJV)

My God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in
glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Christ Jesus, our Shepherd and Savior, give us water when we thirst,
food when we hunger, and life when we face death. Thanks be to you for
satisfying our needs. Amen.

Silly boy :smilies1722:

In other news, according to the weatherman, 1" of rain = 10" of snow. Since we've had 17" of rain so far this month that would equal 170" of snow or over 14 FEET of snow in one month's time. Unimaginable, even for this snow lover!
