Uh, welcome. But methinks that there's a certain time period, too, rather than merely ten posts, or they could all be made in one day [think it's maybe a week?].
Who will get post #2000?
Yeah, I wonder ... think you knew the answer, stretching your post out over several #'s like that. ;)

Congratulations to Jim for snagging post #2000. Though doing 10 posts in a row himself I am not sure is correct etiquette as we are supposed to be talking to each other not carrying on a conversation with oneself . Maybe his multiple posts should be combined and then the honour would go to - just looked - and it would have still been Jim !!!!!
40 posts since I was here last evening and Jim did 15 of those . Got 8 minutes being last with the first one and a whole 50 minutes with the second!

Now I'm jealous! If you are to the point of throwing mini post parties, then surely you must have plenty enough snow to have forced you permanently indoors. Jim, it will be a whole lot easier if you come up here for a while. Make good use of your air points - travel as far as they allow - come to the Yukon! (Actually, one guy did something like that - he was given a free ticket anywhere in North America so he came up here).

We're expecting a freeze here tonight. I'm considering migrating south. Just don't know where to yet.
The solution, Tinker, is not to head south but to head north. Come here for a couple of weeks. We'll take good care of you and when you're done spending two weeks in January or February in the Yukon the next time it "freezes" down there you'll be out in shorts and a t-shirt having ice cream and wondering what all the fuss is about.
Below is an actual status of one of my facebook friends, posted on New Year's Eve.

We are getting snow here - finally. :smilies0231::smilies0231:

That will never be me!! If I haven't adjusted to the cold here, I doubt I will adjust to it there. After I walk every morning, I wake my daughters for school. My oldest daughter confessed to me the other day that before she gets dressed, she always looks at the way I am dressed and then subtracts 20 degrees worth of clothing to decide how "cold" it really is outside.

Tinker, is your camper ready for cold? I always empty the hot water heater when it's going to be sitting and I also open the faucets and run (not high pressure) air through the lines. Tonight, with temps expected to stay below freezing for awhile, I'm opening all the lower cabinet doors and leaving the space heater running.

I'm far from an expert, but I'll be glad to talk with you about it. For future reference, I imagine you got a manual with the camper and it will have a section on winterizing. We have about 6 hours below freezing coming...it'll be a pretty good freeze for us, but if you put heat inside and open the cabinets it *should* be okay.

I think we got it. Drained the hot water heater. opened the faucets (no water). Space heater running with lower cabinets open. Haven't had a chance to read all of the manual yet and we hadn't even thought about the camper needing winterizing. Thanks for mentioning it. You can ignore my text message.

Sorry , Gina , you assumed wrong there. When the Walton's were on TV I was in nurses training and then out at CNC and I watched very little TV if at all. And then I was on permanent nights for 12 years ( 11:30PM -7:30AM) so saw little TV then as well . I did watch a Christmas Walton 's once a few years ago and of course had heard about their goodnights !
24 posts since last evening . Was surprised to get 1 hour and 35 minutes with my earlier post but only 13 minutes with the second . Got to be those up for a pit stop during the night who check into NazNet before returning to bed . With my bed upstaitrs and the computer downstairs I can't do that . Stairs are only tackled once a day and that is more than enough .

That was really good ,Tinker . In fact I sent it to my pastor . Susan, Have you been to the Doctor? When I was a teacher, I was always sick. I learned that if one is REALLY sick and then slowly gets better, it is a virus and not a bacterial infection [thus, antibiotics are pointless]. If one just stays steadily sick then it is bacterial. I am steadily getting better [if I could just learn to not over do it] so haven't been to a doctor. Today I can actually talk though haven't much as I am trying not to overdo it. It hasn't become a sinus or ear infection so I am doing ok all things considered.

How is your leg feeling?
He's half asleep and likely won't remember saying this, but he tells me his leg is feeling really bad. He's said that it hurts and that it feels really heavy. He was putting it as an 8 on a scale of 1-10, but that's still better than the 11 (also on a scale of 1-10) that he came in with. It hasn't been below a 6 since we came here, even with all the morphine.
I can tell the morphine is doing something, though, because he's asked me the same few questions at least 3 times since surgery. Right now he's mostly trying to sleep.

Familiar with that morphine. When Danny was in hospital and they gave it to him, he talked even more than his usual talkative self ... got nick-named "morphine mouth." ;)
Good the surgery's over and he can now begin mending.

Well, now that I am feeling somewhat better I can do my part. Thankfully, I was well enough to make it to a family member's funeral today in Northern VA. Since Mom and I are still kind of sick, plus neither her nor I slept well, dad drove. Dad's reaction time to city traffic is not what it once was. Plus, dad doesn' comprehend how to follow Mom's navigation to the letter. She'd say "You need to be in the right hand lane." So he'd move to the right and then a few minutes later go back to the left lane. Then she'd tell him he to be in the right lane...he'd go to the right and then a few minutes later go to the left. Driving through DC is tricky...you can't just be going back and forth like that. Meanwhile I sat in the back praying we wouldn't be hit, lost or killed. When it was all over and we were at that restaurant in MD, I just kind of collapsed from relief knowing that the worst was over.
But the funeral itself was nice. This church [and my deceased relative] is really into music, nice music. The service was just beautiful. And it was nice to see some of my eastern relatives.

Meanwhile I sat in the back praying we wouldn't be hit, lost or killed. When it was all over and we were at that restaurant in MD, I just kind of collapsed from relief knowing that the worst was over.
Oh, man! Sick or not, I think I'd get sicker riding with that sort of driving! I'd beg to drive, probably. Glad you made it OK, Susan.
Sure had a nice day here in the campground today. Went for a nice walk on the beach with Jackie...took a nap...did a little bike riding. Not bad at all!
OK, where's the ... oh, yeah ... in "Go Advanced." So, here we are so we can find the right smilies for this note of Scott's:

40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
40:2 He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.

19 posts since last evening and I 'm early today . Managed just 5 minutes being last the first time and 9 the second . Won't likely make even that today .
It was so cold with the wind today my cheeks about froze . Had to stop at Wendy's for a free senior's peppermint tea to warm up. That and the fan and the heat in the car on the highest possible.
At the moment it's 3º and a windchill of -17º. Brrrrrr!!( fahrenheit )

It's been a wet cool day here on the beach in galveston. We don't mind it very much. Jackie read and I watched football and snozed a bit.
Now we did go to church this morning. We're less than an hour from home. The rest of the day has been inside the camper enjoying a quiet day.

Enjoying the beach even though it is too windy and rainy to go outside. Playing Clue with the girls. It always seems to be Mrs Scarlet.

I liked Mrs. Scarlet when I was younger, because "Scarlet" sounds like "Charlotte," but blue was always my favorite color, so I usually preferred Ms. Peacock (can't remember her marital status, sorry).

Today I went out in 25 F [-4 C] wearing only a wool sweater and a thin leather jacket - sweat dripping down my back. Only with me does this occur and this is why I hate summer [and the bugs].

Haven't played that in years! Always reminds me of an old friend when I see it, as we'd play it while our parents did their own thing (visiting elsewhere).
