I should be studying, why am I even posting!? Maybe I am not and it's all a dream. Maybe I'll wake up and Hans, Dennis and I will all be sitting around the same table enjoying Dr. Peppers and Doritos discussing how much we truly agree!

To dream ... the impossible dream ...
To fight ... the unbeatable foe ...
To bear ... with unbearable sorrow ...
To run ... where the brave dare not go ...
To right ... the unrightable wrong ...
To love ... pure and chaste from afar ...
To try ... when your arms are too weary ...
To reach ... the unreachable star ...

This is my quest, to follow that star ...
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ...
To fight for the right, without question or pause ...
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause ...

Man what ever happened to Robert Goulet?

Blessings

Do you think the admonition in Luke 17:30-32* means we can't take just a second to add one final message to NazNet before we go?

* LK 17:30 "It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32 Remember Lot's wife!

Person one: Why were you left behind?
Person two: I think it was because I didn't pay my tithe.
Person three: I think it was because I cheated on my spouse.
Person four: I think it was because I ran back to the computer to be the last person to post to a thread on NazNet.

Thinking of last things always makes reminds me of Donna Summer.

Last dance
last dance for love
yes, it's my last change
for romance tonight

I need you, by me,
beside me, to guide me,
to hold me, to scold me,
'cause when I'm bad
I'm so, so bad

So let's dance, the last dance
let's dance, the last dance
let's dance, this last dance tonight...

Sorry about the dancing references. This is a Naz form after all.

Or if your old enough, how about The Drifters...

You can dance-every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye,let him hold you tight
You can smile-every smile for the man
Who held your hand neath the pale moon light
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me

Oh I know that the musics fine
Like sparklin' wine,go and have your fun
Laugh and sing, but while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me...

Sorry about the references to dancing and wine. This is a Naz forum after all.

Aha! Caught ya! You, Jim ... trying to look so conservative all over NN, and then you let the cat out of the bag ... Monty Python ... conservative? Didn't ever think he was that! ;)

Oh but I'm a complicated conservative, we are not monolithic you know. I like Monty Python, The Simpsons, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Woody and Arlo Guthrie, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage and I listened to a TV preacher named Gene Scott for 20 years. Some on the Left, some on the Right and nobody in the middle, but they are all entertaining!

That seems quite unrelated to the topic at hand - who will post last - don't you think? For that, I propose that you should be disqualified so that there is one less person to worry about...

My goal is to stay as far off topic as I can here in order to get it all out of my system so I can stay on topic in other threads. And while we're on the subject, I think monkeys look a lot cuter than they smell.

I agree with Marsha. But only so's she won't be last for too long. :p

Okay, I've been thinking about this and I have a solution. If everyone else will do a post promising not to post anymore to this thread I will respond by posting the same promise.

Can anything be more fair and reasonable?

You know, Scott, I have a nagging suspicion that there's something wrong with this suggestion that on the surface looks so sensible ... but I can't quite put my finger on it. How can we be sure you won't simply pick yourself as the winner?

BTW, this was supposed to be a response to Scott's suggestion that he pick the winner based on proposals as to why we deserve the honor. I think I got off on the wrong track somewhere.

If I'm at the end of a particular branch of the thread (in the branched view) do I get partial credit?

Tell you what, everyone state their best case as to why they should be allowed to have the final post in the thread. I will read your posts and then judge who has earned the right to be last. Everyone will agree that my decision will be final.

I'll then post the decision and that will be it.

Quite reasonable I'd say.

I think it is an excellent idea. I just ask, for the sake of courtesy, that you leave the thread open so we can all congratulate the winner afterwards.

Glenda is starting to lose it. She has added "(persistence)" to her comment. I think that means she is on the verge of giving up but wants to remind herself that she needs to carry on - as hopeless as it is.

Can't quite figure out, Tinker, how this will work ... after the "last" has been congratulated, unless there's another "congratulatory thread" the last "congratulator" will be the newest "last." But, of course, the previous "last" being congratulated can always return to thank all the congratulators and, thus, once again be "last."

Persistence? Redundancy! [why, oh why, do we have to click again beyond "reply" and wait for "go advanced" to give us that dancing banana, et al?] ;) Oh, phooey! That smiley's not enough, so we'll "go advanced ........." and wait ........................ [& wiggle while we wait :smilies0275:]

Makes sense to me. If you want, I'll offer to do the last one to make sure we all have closure.

Wow, I'm glad that's over. I was getting concerned that my real responsibilities were suffering because of this thread. Now we can all let it go and get on with life.

Ah, the sense of relief.

I guess this is it. Let's all take our hands off the keyboard and savor this moment of serenity.

Good idea Scott! Take that well deserved rest, you have truly earned it!

In case this thread turns out to be lengthy, I just want to say that I don't have to be last. So............Should the rapture happen, I just wanted to let you folks know that it won't bother me a bit if you keep posting on this thread. I thought that it would be considerate for me to let you know this in advance so that you wouldn't worry.

All kidding aside , this thread is a delight to read and brings a smile and joy to me every day . The responses are so real to life and some are quite inventive . I think it'd be a shame to close this thread and miss that entertainment value . Thanks to Mark for starting this thread . I do believe he knew how it would evolve . Did I mention I had a friend's father in Northern Ireland that called me "Mark"? Good name there , for sure .

Is that why you're here?

(Hmmm... too [many] posts in a row with questions in them. Obviously, I've given up the fight and should move to the next-to-last thread.)

Edit: Too, two, to -- who invented this crazy language anyway? (Don't bother to answer this.)

Oh! Now that you mention it ... I'd been trying to not get into it, b/c I didn't want to look too prolific ... or as if I wasted too much time posting on-line ... so, it seems yours is (to some of us) a veiled attempt at intimidating us from posting, so you can finally be the last, Kevin! ;)
