View Full Version : What's with MSIE (internet explorer) ?!?

The crazy thing is always trying to start up ... in fact, it does, but doesn't show up, because I tell it "NO" when it keeps asking if I want to make it the default browser, because it currently is not (that's right! Firefox is!).

Anyway, I then go into task manager -- things seem to slow a bit -- and find that IEXPLORE.exe, which is its file name, has started, is taking about 18,000+ KB, which is about 18MB's (don't need that!), so I close it.

Awhile later, that crazy box asking if I want to make it default browser comes up again. It did not used to do that to me constantly as it is now. WONDERING if that's some quirky thing they've sent to me along with some new "WINDOWS XP" update that I've told it to do automatically (hey, I wouldn't know from file names which ones to let through and which ones not to, so I checked the "automatic" box).

It will even pop up when I'm off-line now. So weird! Any ideas of why, or how to get rid of this annoying thing, without going into task manager, etc? It will do it 2-3 times in a row, rather than just once before it knows enough to stay shut for awhile.

Thanks!
