The subtitle of this book is: "Christianity for the rest of us." It is a quick read at about 125 pages. The late author was a self-avowed messy Christian. The main premise of the book is that we are all broken and incomplete in our faithfulness and our lives and it is that very brokeness that Christ finds attractive. The author uses anecdotal stories from his own experience to drive home the point that, like it or not, admit it or not, we are all a mess; differing only in degree and acceptance of that fact. I found the book a watershed moment in my spiritual walk. It assured me that being broken is not only a common denominator among the faithful - it is a prerequisite.:fav18
