Well, I think that Eddie (my husband) and I are now qualified for the “old timers” club! I knew the day would come, but it hit rather hard when we realized that we are not as young as we once were and that times have changed.
Tonight Eddie asked Anna, our daughter, about the Christian Concert she and her sister, Rachel, are planning to attend in Birmingham tomorrow night. He asked her where it was to be held and she said that it would be at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center (BJCC). This is the largest facility in North Alabama so Eddie asked if she had tickets. No, she didn’t, but she assured him that they could be purchased at the door.
He then went on to say, “Well, there must be some big groups performing in order for them to get the BJCC . . . like Gold City Quartet.” I added, “Sounds big enough for the Bill Gaither Trio, The Speer Family, The Happy Goodman’s, or the Singing Rambos!”
After Anna picked her “laughing” self off the floor, she proceeded to name the following groups who would be performing at the concert: Newsong, Newsboys, Zoegirl, Toby Mac, Hawk Nelson, David Nasser, Krystal Meyers, and also appearing, Sphere of Fear (Motorcycle Stunt Show)!
What, Squire Parsons is not opening!?!?!?! No George Beverly Shea?
Oh well, Dad. I know a little of the “Shock” that you experienced when the Imperials hit the scene!
Eddie and I are still learning and growing, even in our old age!!!
Long Live the Goodman’s! (Anna just informed me that they were all dead! Oh well . . .may they rest in peace!)
