I was just at the store to buy some ice cream. What is the difference between, Plain Vanilla, New York Vanilla and French Vanilla? They also had a Vanilla Bean and a made in a factory Home Made Vanilla. I'm afraid I'm going to have to do a thorough taste test. Then of course I'll have to try them all with different kinds of toppings. You all could save me a lot of calories.

"A rose by any other name is still a rose." (Jude 3:2)
It is all in the marketing.
What sounds good?
What appeals to one's senses?
That's all that matters.
Put a bit more vanilla in this one, add a different vanilla formulation to that one.
Has this name been used? If so, call it by another name.

We certainly don't want you to have to go through all that bother and absorb all those extra calories (and carbs), so I trust that someone can come up with a convincing answer quickly.

It seems to me that French Vanilla has more Vanilla in it. It has been a long time since I had it. I generally prefer a Ice cream with nuts in it.

Joel, if you are going to make you a black cow, regular vanilla will do fine!

I believe French Vanilla has eggs in the recipe. Not sure about the others.

Aha! Another label reader, eh? ;) That's what I was going to say, too, re the eggs ... it's more like custard due to the eggs, that old French Vanilla.
As for toppings, Joel ... like to make my own. You like to cook, so maybe you could do that, too, eh? That might even save some calories ... having to work at it, rather than just eat it. :basic05
[edit] PS * Joel, don't know what else you might bring up that would be much
deeper than this, for sure! ha! gs
