Another teacher at my school who has a really nice camera and is quite the amateur photographer decided to start a photography club after school. I've been going to help out, although she's the one who gives instruction each week (and challenges for them to work on). They've been working on reflections lately and so she called the local fire department and asked if they wouldn't mind driving a fire truck over. Since they had no emergencies this afternoon, three firemen came with a pumper truck. It was SOOOO fun to watch the kids climbing in and out of the truck and taking pictures in the shiny metal. Lots of silly reflections, and bell ringing, but some great pictures too. I'll try to load some when I get more of a chance. I just thought it was a creative idea - to photograph a fire truck. :)

Katelynn,
Try using silverware instead of a firetruck, that works great especially on a rained out day...
If you do a search on "4H photography project" you'll come up with lots of interesting exercises to practice basic skillls with. One of the reasons I'm involved in the 4H photo project is I love watching the kids progress. My favorite thing has to be telling them there really are no rules to photography and they can be as creative as possible, I encourage them to interpret directions in abstract ways and to "think outside of the box".
I look forward to seeing some of the kids work!
