That's our pastor!
Oh, wait . . . I AM the pastor.
That's still our pastor.

One of my pastors in a rural area said that if during the sermon he noticed someone dozing off, he figured that they probably needed the rest more than his sermon and did not take it as a negative commentary on his preaching or the content of the sermon.

It took getting into the thread to make me realize that the 'Earl' in qustion was a comic strip character, not the guy on 'My Name is Earl".
Of course I was the guy who saw Nicholas Cage in 'Honeymoon in Vegas' and then saw Cage in 'Leaving Las Vegas' and spent part of the latter getting over the mistaken idea that 'Leaving...' was a sequel to 'Honeymoon....'.

I have occasionally wanted to be able to quietly have everyone leave the sanctuary, except the person asleep - so that they would awaken alone. It would be the perfect setting for someone wondering if they had missed the rapture.

My dad always maintained that if all the people who slept during the sermon were stretched out end to end, they'd certainly be a lot more comfortable.
I used to sing in a choir with a guy who would last about 10 minutes into the sermon. Since I was seated next to him, I was appointed 'designated cougher'.
