I'm going to be preaching a series on "Godly Living in a Godless Age", covering topics such as: Managing Money, Sexual Purity, Entertainment, Parenting (and possibly more). Would anyone have a good powerpoint background I can use for a series such as this? I don't have any fancy software, but I just started using GIMP. (I also have Microsoft's Picture It). If anyone has something in GIMP that I can further edit/add to, that would be ideal.

I have a great website for you. It is from Keith Drury and the material is exactly what you are talking about. Check it out:

I have been a reader of Keith Drury's writings for some time - always enjoyed them - back in the days when his weekly Tuesday column was emailed to you (now you fetch it yourself). I've actually done his "Spiritual Disciplines for Ordinary People" study a couple of times in our church and it was very well received.

one thing that I can not understand, when it comes to these kind of subjects, especially with people like Crown Ministries etc. when they say you should never go into debt. If thats so Id still be riding an old bicycle! LOL and 35 miles one way a day is a lot of peddaling!

My understanding of hearing them now & then is that this doesn't necessarily include a house or an auto, tho' ideally they suggest that future cars -- after the first one for which one might need to make payments -- be bought with cash, by still saving the amount of $$ every month with which one formerly made a car payment, once it is paid off.
Yes, that is rather hard sometimes ... especially if someone has low income ... suddenly has some rather huge repair bills for the car ... has other things, such as medical output, come up ....
Of course, such an organization has to tell us what the "ideal" is ... for those who can attain it ... or at least come close. One has to have a target at which to aim, if they're going to hit anything, no? ;)

I'm not sure how we got from my request of a powerpoint background to discussing finances :) but my thought of including "Managing Money" as part of my "Godly Living..." series is to present how we as Christians need to look at money - not so much telling everyone they need to create a budget (which is true enough in itself too). How is a godly persons perspective on money different then a worldly perspective? That's kind of what I want to touch on.
Now, back to my original request :) , if anyone has a good powerpoint background suitable for this series of messages, I would love to see it!
Thanks :fav18

Sorry 'bout dat! Wasn't but answering someone else's post that took the thread there, I guess. ;) Hopefully someone will have what you need.

Norm,
I'm not really sure this is what you want. It isn't a background, but more of an announcement slide. I found all of the elements online and put them together.
I hope this helps.

I'm may use that slide for the week I speak on Money, but I was looking for a slide to use as a theme for the entire series (boy, I'm so picky). The best I could do is this one. It works - but not all that exciting. I need a picture in it that reinforces the idea.
