Does anyone know how to convert a .pdf document to Word?
I tried instructions from online after doing a search.
It said, "Click file, save as, and save as Word."
Unfortunately, there is no "save as" on the .pdf document I'm trying to save.

Good Luck!!!
A pdf file can not be saved as a word document actually it can not be saved as anything other than a pdf. It can be opened by a variety of programs, but Word isn't one of them. A word file can be made as a pdf file through the print function assuming you have the right acrobat programs on your computer.
I don't think you can do what you are trying to do.

If you have access to Corel Office X3, it claims to be able to import and export .pdf files. There are 3rd party programs that do that also, but I doubt if you would want to spend $100 for that capability. I saw the new Corel Office X3 demonstrated at an AITP meeting, and it is unreal. They are sending me a free full version of it, but I'm not sure it is on the market yet.

Can't you copy the text into a word document and then save it?

You can copy the text only if you have the Adobe Acrobat program. It has a select text tool in which you can copy and paste into Word. I have the program and that is the only way it can be done.
Also did you know that PrintShop will save in pdf format? It will but you might need to the "distiller" to shrink the file down in size? Gary would know more about that than I.

Paperport has a built-in PDF Converter which will Convert a PDF file to Word.

Make sure you have the latest version of the free Adobe Reader.
You don't need the "whole" program. I recently downloaded the newest free Adobe Reader version 6.0 (at least it was the newest version available for Windows ME, there might be a newer version than that for new Windows) and it has the select tool. I have "selected" and copied text into Word with it. There is also a "Save as Text" feature (which I haven't used) that I assume could then be put into Word. These techniques mean an extra step but it should work.

If your pdf file is not confidential, you can email it to me. I will convert it and send it back to you.
Just to be sure that I could, I converted several files. None of them converted without error, but they were close enough that they could be fixed without retyping the whole document.

One more option -- Nuance Software has a software that will convert the pdf file. It is less expensive than the Adobe Acrobat.

Wondering here if some sites don't have their files updated to work with the old or new ... or if my problem is with the new download. You see, Adobe Reader worked just fine when it was 5.something; then one day I opened it while on-line, and up pops this notice about there being an "update." SO, I DL'd the 6.whatever, and I've not been able to open *ANY* PDF files since! So, I've had tho'ts -- in fact, made myself a note to try to remember it with this thing called "Stickies" that leaves notes on the desktop (but one can become immune to seeing them, I've found ;) ), to DL the *OLD* one again, and get rid of the newer one.
ANYONE else have this problem? Is it some websites (such as the free-pattern one that I can't read patterns from anymore) ... or is it the reader itself?? Tried DL'ing it a 2nd time, if I recall, still ..................
HOPE SOMEONE has an ANSWER!!
Thanks.

You can't really convert the documet to word, but you can cut and paste.
First, bring up your empty document on word and minimize that.
Next, when you're in the Adobe document, click "edit" and then "select all" and then go back to "edit" and select "copy." Then bring up your WORD and go to "edit" and then "paste." When I tried it a few minutes ago, I couldn't just highlight with my mouse and copy and paste. I had to go through the regular "edit" on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
It will copy the text into the word document, but the formatting may be a little off. You'll have to play around with that once you get the text copied into your word document.
Hope that helps.

However, one first must get their .pdf file(s) open to do that, Dana! ;)
Yeah, guess it's about time to go back to the old version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, since I've not been able to open anything ".pdf" since installing the new one that popped up one day as a suggestion while I was DL'ing some .pdf file! Oh, well .................. ;)

Does anyone know how to convert a .pdf document to Word?
I think it has to repent and then go through a catechism class with a Word priest, and then they confirm the pdf as a Word.

Seriously, my experience has been the same as Dana's...cut and paste.

Cute.
FAI: For anybody's information
Although several people opted to help, none were able to resolve the problem; however, I did print the blank form, scan it, and save it in a JPEG file, a GIF, and a TIFF. As one of these files, I can "edit," and draw a text box in each blank space of the document.
Quite a lot of trouble. I will probably just go into Acrobat and retype it every time I need it. :-)
Thanks for all the offers!

Wanda,
Is this a form that you are needing to fill out? If so, you can go to www.cutepdf.com (http://www.cutepdf.com) and download a free form filler that will let you save it with the info filled in. You can save the original file and then, each time you need it, you can pull it up and put the new info in. However, it may need to be the type of form that is interactive to begin with. It still won't let you put it into Word.
Mark learned about CutePDF in his real estate course and we have been using it since. Before, we could fill in the real estate forms and print them, but we couldn't save them with the info in them which meant, if anything changed, we had to type it all over again.
There are some other options at CutePDF, also. Some are free, some are very inexpensive. So, if the Form Filler doesn't work for you, maybe something else will.
BTW, I can't do a cut & paste in Adobe Reader. I can "Select All" but the copy command is not available and I just downloaded the very latest version today before trying it again.

There must be some security feature hidden in that file, Wanda. Seriously!! I called up several .pdf files that I have saved on my computer, and on each one of them I was able to use that "select all" and "copy" feature. But on yours, I could not get the "copy" feature to work. That is very strange, but true!
I'm glad you figured it out, though. Good for you!
