Take Time to be Holy

I am working my way through this song. I've sung it so many times, but like a lot of great hymns we just sing them and not pay attention to it. God is "slapping" me around with this one, thought I would share it with the rest of you. Why should I be the only one getting it from God today.

1. Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.

2. Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

3. Take time to be holy, let Him be thy Guide;
And run not before Him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.

4. Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
Each thought and each motive beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.

I read an essay just yesterday that goes right along with this theme. Here is quote:

No time is more profitably spent than that used to heighten the quality of an intimate walk with God. If we think otherwise, we have been badly educated. The real question is, "Will we take time to do what is necessary for an abundant life and and an abundant ministry, or will we try to 'get by' without it?"

... God never gives anyone too much to do....
