Greetings!

I've been "brainstorming" a new theme/format for our youth group.

We all know that myspace is HUGELY popular with the kids.

I'm going rename our youth ministry, "HisSpace."

[Would "OurSpace" be better? Someone said, "as they invite others to visit and refer to it, there may be a more immediate connect or interest because it evokes ownership or a shared journey."]

We'll have a sub-title that is yet to be determined but it will be something along the lines of "Living in God's World" or at least something with that kind of theme.

Weekly meeting format:

Log-in: registration time

Blog Time: Kids share whatever is on their minds (things that just happened, things coming up, their opinions on something, etc.

Music Favorites: each week someone shares 1 or 2 of their favorite Christian works (video or CD)

Bible Chat: This will be the Bible lesson portion of the evening (discussion/activity based lessons)

Messaging God: This is prayer time. What do you want to say to God? What are you thankful for? What do you need help with? What do you wonder about? What is God saying to you?

Snacks:

Weekly Specials (some weeks but not all):

Movie Talk: recent popular movie. What issues were raised? What values expressed? Biblical perspective, etc.

myspace commentary: an issue rasied on someone's blog or comments, etc. that we can address, etc.

HisSpace Groups:
- puppet team practice
- service project planning/doing
- special training or discipling

OK, inspired by the above thoughts, I'd like to hear more ideas, suggestions, and opinons to really fill this out.

Thanks,
Wilson

Great idea. I have been working on a new format as well. My group has grown from 3 to as many as 20. I'll get back to you on some ideas when I have more time.

Wilson, what I have been using is Facebook.com

Our youth leaders go on and invite the kids from our youth group there. This has been a great spot for me to witness to many of them. Even ones I do not know.
So far all of about 100 kids are on Facebook.com from our youth group...

do you do registration every week? The reason I ask is because I thought log-in time would be good as an opening prayer time. Kinda like, logging into God as a group? I don't know, its a neat idea you have there though.
