Tomorrow my one and only son turns 21 years old.
I had this idea, but since I've never had a 21-year-old son before, I thought I'd ask for opinions first.
Tyler works at a small auto shop in Phoenix -- and so I had this idea to have pizza delivered to his work for everyone to enjoy for his 21st Birthday as a surprise for him.
Should I call his work and ask permission to do this first?
Should I not do it at all, as it might embarrass him to have his mommy & daddy have pizza delivered for their little boy's birthday?
Or would that be a cool thing to do.
I mean, it's better than balloons or a fancy cake in the shape of a car, right??? LOL Or FLOWERS! LOL
What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? I mean, how many guys would turn down pizza and pepsi????
OK, waiting for your replies before I do anything, so hurry up and comment before tomorrow morning, ok????
Thanks!!!

I think that would be a good idea. Of course its been so long since I was 21, and not having a 21 year old son..............I don't know. How's that for an answer?
I would think it would be fine.
Happy Birthday to Tyle

I think it is a great idea if they all eat lunch at the same time. I don't think the boss would mind but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Our biggest problem around here is getting the pizza on time.

Of course you do. Sounds like a great idea. My boys love it when we do something like that.
No balloons is a good idea.

Well, that's why I figured pizza. Even if they don't all eat at the same time, which I'm sure they probably don't, pizza would still be good. I mean, even cold pizza is good!! LOL
Thanks, Joel.

Great idea. I might call the boss and get his okay and ask him to keep it a secret.

Yes, that's possible, but I'm pretty sure they don't know it's his birthday. He's not one to let everyone know -- unlike his MOTHER!!! HA HA HA

Your right, and don't ask the boss, just do it.

I agree that the boss ought to know just in case there is a conflict with this scheduling.
Of course, when you call the "boss" and Tyler answers the phone, that will be interesting. :basic05

I agree that asking the boss first might not be a bad idea....if he can keep a secret.
My son Joshua who just turned 22 on Valentines day is use to me doing wacky things like that.
About the time he turned 12, he told us never felt like his birthday was really his cause everyone at school was into valentines and candy. Everyone in class got a valentine so it wasn't a special day like the other kids birthdays.
So we started celebrating his birthday on a different day of that same week so he could feel it was HIS DAY. So that year we did a huge pizza party for his 6th grade class.
Then I had to get inventive cause in jr high with 7 classes you didn't do a party at school anymore. So one year he found a balloon everyday after school of that week with a puzzle piece hooked to it. At the end of the week the puzzle altogether told him where his birthday gift would be and what day we would go to dinner to celebrate. That birthday lasted a week and half!! But it became fun to see what we could come up with.
I "tagged" his car one year in high school. Tagged meaning, I got one of the markers for writing on cars and wrote Happy birthday and hearts all over the windows of his car. His friends thought that was cool that HIS MOM tagged his car.
One year while at college, which is 45 min away from us, I drove up 7 days before his birthday. I hid 7 presents in his car. He had plenty of small hiding places in his car and I had an extra key! I bought small things...a walmart gift card...a CD...a batch of homemade cookies. I can't remember what else ~!
I hid all the items in 7 different places. Called him up the first morning and said you have a present in your car. (which was the cookies cause i knew he would smell them if he got in and i didn't want them to go bad!) I called him everymorning that week and told him where to look in his car. He never caught on they were all there all week.He thought I drove up there everyday!
Last year I tagged his car again. This time at college. I also filled it with red balloons till you couldn't get in the car. I was in the middle of it when a guy walks by and looks at me rather weird so I say I'm tagging my sons car...to which he says "OH OK...thats cool! I'm his roomate Brandon" So I ask him if he could help me as I didn't want to be there long and have Josh catch me. He was thrilled to help! I gave him a batch of cookies to take to their room and begged him not to eat them all! So as I'm backing out, I look in the rear view mirror and I see Josh coming from class and he sees my car and starts running and has his cell phone. He calls me and says..um hi mom where are you!? I was caught but he loved it!
SO as for me I think the Pizza at work thing is really cool!
Hope it works out for ya!
Josh's wacky mom,
Wendy
