Hi Dave and Linda
I had the blessed opportunity to give nursing care at the hospital I work, for Prof Anna Laughbaum...my English Prof
God is gracious and she has no memory of this class of 65' BNC/SNU student who slept through and skipped a fewwww of her 0730 EARLY morning classes.
She does however have fond memories of you Dave and of you Linda..she reminenced about taking a trip with the two of you to Israel. I promised her I would send you her greetings.
She is 90 years young...and this is so true! In the evenings she would busy herself reading the newspaper, and doing the newspaper crossword puzzles. I remarked how difficult I find working crossword puzzles, to which this amazing 90 year old lady tried to console me by saying
"They are really quite simple on Mondays' however as the week progresses they increase in difficulty....and by the week-end, I find them hard to complete. Yesterday she completed the one for Thursday (without a dictionary!) and was not looking forward to Friday's Crossword puzzle. I teased her and said, "Just pretend Friday is Monday's and go for it!"
Last evening she had to learn to give her own Lovenox injection ( will have to do this for a couple of weeks at home)..and with the quivering hand of a fragile senior citizen, she did accomplish this daunting task. Then she looked at me as big tears welled up in her eyes and said simply "I do not like this!"
She has a serious medical problem for which there is not a cure..and lives alone in her home in Warr Acres....if you or any one from BNC/SNU want to send her a card of encouragment....please consider doing this. Edith or Carolyn or Rosilie, if you are reading this she would love to hear from you ladies.
I have her address and if you will e-mail me I will pass this on to you
Perhaps we can brighten her life for a moment of time
