Thanks so much for all of your comments in my "need advice" thread......

SOOO, I called Tyler's work early this morning, and the accountant answered (she's the only woman working there, and I was glad she answered!)

I told her that I was Tyler's mother and that this was his 21st birthday. She said, "yes, we just got finished celebrating his birthday this morning!!" Well, it turns out that only one person there knew it was Tyler's birthday, so he went out and bought big muffins and put a birthday candle in each one, and brought them back for everyone to have breakfast and celebrate Tyler's birthday! I thought that was so nice.

Anyway, so I told her that I wanted to treat everyone there to lunch and was going to order pizzas......she thought it was a wonderful idea, and she gave me that place closest to the office so I could call and have them delivered.

She told me that I should call back around noon when the pizzas were there so I could wish Tyler a happy birthday.

Then she told me that Tyler was the nicest person to be around and to work with, and that he was a joy to know. Wow, that got my eyes to burning, you know. It's nice to hear those words.

So, when I called at noon, she answered again, and she told me that Tyler was very touched that we had done that for him. He wasn't expecting that from his parents, she said; he was very surprised!

He got on the phone and said that was a cool thing to do.

So I guess boys are still okay with hearing from their mommies sometimes......LOL

Thanks you guys -- I wasn't sure how much mommy I should be now that my baby boy is all grown up. I'm still learning this "parent of an adult" thing......

Neat story.
It is great that you have that kind of relationship with Tyler.

And he is fortunate to have a "cool" mom.

Thanks. Tyler would probably argue with you about the "cool" part, though.......HA HA HA HA

Great that it worked out so well, I thought it probably would.

One thing I'll share about our boys who are now 25, 23 & 23, They still love a hug from mom and even dad now and then.

Awwwwww, he is such a good kid. My boys never tire of Mom treating them like HER little boys. Now don't tell my oldest, who by the way is an architect (and now a partner in the firm) ok, I still like to brag. But back to the story, one day I called him at work and asked for Little Danny, and immediately I swore the receptionist NEVER to tell him I did that. Sometimes things just slip out.

I think the pizza idea was great. And knowing Tyler, he would be pretty cool with that idea. It did include food you know.

I still think of him as that little guy who loved to mow our lawn with the riding lawnmower.

Little Danny is a partner in his architect firm now???? I didn't know THAT!!!! That is GREAT!

We still have an airplane that he drew for Bert a hundred years ago. Bert has kept it all those years. Someday when he is a famous architect, we are going to frame it and hang it somewhere prominent so we can say "that's our nephew, you know, Danny Grant, the famous architect?"

LOL

Oh great, quoting my own post -- it just reminded me, Doris.

Your Danny knew from a very early age what he wanted to do with his life and worked hard to pursue that goal. I remember him as a little boy designing and drawing all the time. That's like Tyler, as well. He knew from an early age that he wanted to do something with cars, ever since he was old enough to sit up and take a little matchbox car and say "vroom, vroom!!" -- he wasn't more than 6 months old!! I think it is so neat when kids end up working at something they love......
