Yes, this has happened before, I played with it, and could get no sound back until I restarted the computer. Tonight it suddenly happened again. This time I decided to look around in CTRL Panel ... found a gizmo re sound, checked some things out, found a place that said "TEST SPEAKER(s)" and heard nothing.
Is there anything one can do, without going through the restart, that I missed finding/seeing/doing?
Thanks! ;)

Gina, two things come to mind:
1) You didn't mention the sound icon in the lower right corner of your crt. It looks like a loud speaker. If you mute your computer, a red X will cover the icon. Click on it to turn the sound back on and to adjust the volume.
2) Some keyboards have sound button on them. The button does the same thing as the icon. Press it once and you mute your computer. Press it again and you turn the sound back on. On my keyboard, it is at the top center of the keyboard.
