Today is a cool fall day in Nashville and I am reminded of Thanksgiving. Among the things to be thankful for this year is my cousin, Bob's safe return from Iraq after 18 months of deployment. I am also thinking of how many of us on this board enjoy cooking. It will not be long until we prepare those scrumptous thanksgiving dinners. One thing I am going to attempt to make this year is a pumpkin roll. My friend, Paulette, makes these are they are so good. Of course at my family gathering we will have the traditional southern cornbread dressing.

i'll be spending Thanksgiving cooking the meal for our Advent Church dinner the following Sunday.

i am sure that the kiddos, Garry and i will find time to eat a turkey sometime during the day.

I do NOT enjoy cooking, but I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my wonderful in-laws -- yes, I'm serious, I have great in-laws!! (Don't we, Doris???) We are so looking forward to their visit.

Now -- if I can just get my bedroom all finished by the time they get here!! We are having so much fun! But, before they get here, I have to finish decorating their "suite" and it is going to be gorgeous!!

But I will be doing the cooking -- or most of it, with my MIL's help. Those poor people, I don't know why they insist on coming to Tucson during Thanksgiving -- they do that a lot. We don't care -- we love it whenever they come -- it's just that they have to suffer through my plain-jane cooking!! Oh well, I guess I must not be THAT bad of a cook if they keep coming back!! But let me tell you, it is a regular traditional Thanksgiving without any frills, for sure. I don't do frills in cooking!!! Oh well, they love us anyway, I guess!!!

I think we're going to take a short trip somewhere this time, so that will be fun. Do you think that will make up for my so-called COOKING???? HA HA HA

Where is PRESSED FOR TIME when you need them????? LOL

I decided a couple weeks ago I would work this Thanksgiving. So my Dad and I will do the breakfast thing earlier in the week. He is taking that week off.

I also will probably will Christmas and New Years. That way people with families, not that dad isn't family, can have that time together. But next year, well, who knows.

I had planned to work Thanksgiving until my in-laws decided to come. But that's okay -- I can work the day after for a few hours. I probably will not work Christmas day, but Christmas eve I will. Then I'll probably work on New Year's Day; it's rather lazy around our house that day anyway. Most of this depends on when Tyler will be visiting -- I don't work when Tyler's here!! Priorities, you know!! HA HA But I should at least try for ONE day of that time-and-a-half pay, shouldn't I? :basic05 HA HA HA

Well Dana, I entertained the in-laws last Thanksgiving so it is good that you get the pleasure this time. And as you say they are wonderful people who are easy to please.
