I think this is one of the best books I've read in awhile. Laura Hillenbrand documents the life of Louie Zamperini a juvenile delinquent-turned-Olympic runner-turned-Army hero. During a routine search mission over the Pacific, Louie’s plane crashed into the ocean, and what happened to him over the next three years of his life. It is riveting and really keeps your attention. I could not put this book down and did not get anything done till I finished it. It is well documented and just a fantastic read.

Just an inside note, the author, Laura Hillenbrand also wrote -Seabiscuit: An American Legend--

I actually bought the book as I did not want to wait for time to elapse and get it used. The story
of this soldier in WWII Pacific, his survival after the B29 ?? crash was enough to make the book worth the purchase, but then it goes on to reveal a more profound survival. I will not spoil the story and just stop here. He indeed is a life of extremes, with a surprise conclusion

I just finished this book and feel like it should be required reading for every school child, teacher, preacher, psychologist, and serviceman everywhere.

This book covers the themes of :
the total depravity of mankind,
the need for a Savior,
the need for hope in one's life,
the resiliency of the human spirit,
the theme of what man meant for harm, God meant for good,
forgiveness,
and as the title says resiliency and redemption

You will not be able to put this book down. It is a NY Times #1 best seller for good reason.

The book is awesome! I just picked it up while browsing in a bookstore... I had never heard of it before, no recommendations, no readers advisories etc... it just looked like a book that appealed to me.. The olympics, Hitler, WW2 adventure and Aviation. It was all of that but so much more! I couldn't put it down either and I swear .. this will be made into a movie as this mans life had it all for better or worse.

I'm on a campaign to get as many people as possible to read it.
