I am bored tonight. Can you tell? Participating in the thread about describing words for the Trinity reminded me of this poem in the book Just Give Me Jesus. I am sure most of you have heard or read it somewhere. Here it is:

JESUS MAKES GOD VISIBLE

He is enduringly strong.
He is entirely sincere.
He is eternally steadfast.
He is immortally gracious.
He is imperially powerful.
He is impartially merciful.
He is the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed
the horizons of the globe.

He is God's Son.
He is the sinner's Savior.
He is the captive's Ransom.
He is the Breath of Life.
He is the centerpiece of civilization.
He stands in the solitude of Himself.

He is august and He is unique.
He is unparalleled and He is unprecedented.
He is undisputed and He is undefiled.
He is unsurpassed and He is unshakable.

He is the lofty idea in philosophy.
He is the highest personality in psychology.
He is the supreme subject in literature.
He is the unavoidable problem in higher criticism.
He is the fundamental doctrine of theology.
He is the Cornerstone, the Capstone, and the stumbling
Stone of all religion.
He is the miracle of the ages.

Just give me Jesus! He makes God visible!

you should hear Ann Lotz read that poem. I have the book she wrote and the CD came in it..I weep every time I hear her. It's awesome!!

I heard this other "poem" a number of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and reading some variations. Apparently it was originally constructed by Pastor Dr. Shadrach Meshach Lockridge of SanDiego Calvary Baptist Church, but who knows about these things.

Anyway, it is fascinating to listen to, too!

You can read a variation of Dr. Lockridge's rendition, crafted by Chuck Missler, and listen to Dr. Lockridge at the same time by clicking on this link:

[My King (http://www.cedardalechurch.ca/myking.html)] to listen to the MP3, just click on the blue sound link on that page ... it will open and play in your default listening device (Windows Media Player, etc.)

Wow! I've heard Ann speak [radio, rather than in person] ... more than once ... and have appreciated her ... knew she'd written a book ... but had not yet seen it.

Thank you so much for taking time to post this. It's really neat. Seems I've heard, too, that the song Fernando Ortega wrote with the title, "Give me Jesus" is included on a CD with the book [unless it was just some special editions that had that CD included].
