When I read that the Canadian hostages in Iraq had been released, I assumed (gratefully) that it had been the US and British military forces who were fully responsilbe. But from the newswire today....
"British and American military sources yesterday, however, made a point of crediting Canada's key role in the mission. Pentagon and British military officials said that Canadian and special forces took the reins of the ground operation.
The Department of National Defence yesterday would not disclose any role in the successful mission, saying they don't comment on the secret affairs of JTF2, which is based in Ottawa."
Apparently my country has a special group in this JTF2...experts in hostage taking, an elite counter-terrorism force.
Wow...who knew?
