I remember watching him on Hee Haw many moons ago.Hadn't heard much from him in recent years but do know that he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of fame.
Anybody else remember him?

More seriously, when they first announced it, rather than saying his name, they said that coming up was "remembering the Rhinestone Cowboy."
Well ... who else might someone think of? Glenn Campbell, who sang that, of course! I was sure hoping it wasn't ... Kim & he have some halfway young kids, yet ... then they finally let us know who it was.
Actually, he wasn't very old ... something like 76.

Buck Owens was one of my dad's favorites, and Hee Haw became regular Saturday night fare in our house from its very first show. I guess the Buck Owens song I remember best from my growing up days is "Tiger by the Tail"

Yup, growing up being "subjected to" country music, it goes like this:
I've got a tiger by the tail,
it's plain to see.
I won't be much when
she gets through with me.
la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
[can't remember all the words, you see!]
I've got a tiger by the tail,
it's plain to see.
or sumpin' like that .................. ;)

Buck was one of my favorites.
I have the Time/Life set of CD's for Hee Haw and watch them often. My three year old grandson, John David, loves to watch it too. Many times when he is visiting us, he asks me to turn on Hee Haw.
For those who are too young to remember, for several year in the 1960's the most popular TV show was "Laughin." While Laughin was still very popular, Hee Haw came on the air. I believe it was 1968. When it first came out, no one would admit that that watched it, until the ratings hit the top. It continued to be popular long after Laughin played out.
Before Hee Haw, Buck Owens had the "Buck Owens Show." It came on right after Porter Wagoner.
Yes, I remember.

Gloom, despair and misery on me.
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery.
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair and misery on me.
Not that I ever watched HeeHaw. I just heard about it from my friends.

Oh my! You're right! Agony, not misery.
I must have been asleep when I typed that. I couldn't believe it when I checked and it was wrong. Maybe someone slipped in and corrupted my post when I wasn't looking? I really do know the song -- just ask my children!
Oh, well.
"Where, oh where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alo-o-o-o-ne?
I searched the world over and thought I found true love.
You met another and pfffttttt you were gone."
I'm outta here.

Marsha ... and Marsha! ;)
"Where, oh where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alo-o-o-o-ne?
I searched the world over and thought I found true love.
You met another and pfffttttt you were gone."
This is the song I recall the words to the best.
Finally, I'd just outa cornfields if it was just a quick stop on the way to the bank, too, eh! :basic05
