Wow - that's fast. You'll be able to do anything that can be done with that kind of speed.

Hey, Scott. I think you should store Hans' screenshot and your comment here away in a time capsule and pull it out in five years. I'm thinking it might be good for a few laughs.

(who is jealous because Hans' speed report makes me feel like my recent speed upgrade still has me in "dial-up" territory on a relative scale. All this money and I still can't watch YouTube videos in real time. :smilies1390:)

Marsha, I'm just fortunate that the City of Dordrecht managed to get a company interested in bringing fiber to the home all over the city. There aren't that many places in the Netherlands that already have fiber.
My company though has 1 Gb network on fiber between the various locations, and a 300 Mb internet connection. I guess there are always those that do better....

Maybe I need a lawyer like small print note: The above statement only applies to technology available at the time of writing and is not intended to be a prediction of future internet capability or needs.

WOW!!!! I've never seen uploads like that. In my last place I could get downloads that fast at times, but up only at about a third. That's so good.

Generally, DSL lines are ADSL, and the A stands for Asynchrone. Which usually means the upload speed doesn't remotely approach the download speed. Now usually, that's not a problem. But when you have a backup location elsewhere, it might be.
The good thing about fiber is that download and upload speeds are usually the same.

Color me envious. One of the drawbacks of being out in the country is that this is about as good as I can get:

Ah, quit your whining. This is our speed after our Christmas upgrade.

Sorry, from the title of the thread it looked like Hans might be having an old man's health issue that I might find interesting. Since it is about computer technology, I'm out of here.

How much does that sort of bandwidth cost do you suppose?

Wow. Maybe this is because I'm on a laptop using WiFi... or maybe our internet is just really slow...

€ 300 a month, but an investment of € 100.000
For all clarity, this includes a 1 Gb line between our four locations.
