The Malleable Blade is, to my knowledge, Dan Whitney's first published work, (although he is co-editor of "New Every Morning" , an e-mail service for ministers of the Nazarene denomination's Ministerial Development department.) It was first publshed a few months ago (2005) Here is a book in the general genre of the Narnia tales (CSLewis) and to an extent the Ring saga (Tolkien); it is authored by a gifted and creative Nazarene pastor. Hopefully it is the first of a series of adventures of "John and Greg". Dan says the book developed out of bed-time stories he invented for his sons Jon and Greg. It is healthy fantasy with good moral underpinnings, very creative and full of surprises, time warps, mixed with actual places (Newport, R.I., etc.) I enjoyed reading the book-- even though I suppose it is for young people/children-- it is the kind of book that stands on its own good story line and adventure and at the same time stands for wholesome and clean and good moral living. It can be ordered through BookSurge,LLC, or www.booksurge.com

I remember Dan from my days at ENC. He was my R.A. for two years, I think. He is an incredibly talented guy. He can sing, write, and act. He and I worked together on stage in several of Rhonda Winderl's productins. I saw him featured in the most recent issue of the "ENC Scholar".

Hmmm. I expect that this is the same Dan Whitney that was an associate at Plymouth (MI) several years ago. Paul and I were in a Christmas production that he wrote.
