Seems he did up something rather cool for Christmas this time, too ... have noticed the last several years [tho' haven't always gotten to see the comics, but when seeing them ...] that BC manages to highlight his faith in his media outlet ... and it's not gotten BC "canned," so sometimes it is possible. ;)

After seeing Cindi's post, it brought to mind a similar Johnny Hart/BC comic from years ago. I clipped it and kept it for many years. . .had a copy of it taped to my desk when I was youth/CE pastor. I hope the image posts well. . . I found it on a site devoted to Johnny Hart/BC.

John used this cartoon at the close of the service this morning. As some of the children and youth were leaving I saw them doing this "yes" arm movement.

It was a very joyful upbeat way to end worship.

Thanks for posting it.

Today's was good, too ... red-letter poetry ... and we know what "red letters" means. ;)

Then there was this Luann comic where they said something like: "makes you wonder what it's all about" ... after one toddles around when young, "trying to understand the world," and then does the same thing once they're old.

So, I was wondering if they are actually of the hopeless sort, the one who writes that (Greg Evans, if I recall correctly) or if they do believe there's something "it's all about," but come in more subtly than "Mr. B.C." through the back door, and by suggesting one might wonder what it's all about, might afterall get them to thinking about how -- especially today, Resurrection Sunday -- there really is "something that it's all about."

'Wonder ... so guess perhaps I'll have to see if there's any info on the web re the beliefs of this artist who wrote today's strip as he did.

LATER -- haven't found what I'm checking for yet, but haven't gotten to the Christian Science Monitor where it says there's an article re him. But did find this interesting paragraph re his being conscientious to please readers from various areas (along with a note that it's going to be going to TV ... wonder how ... doesn't seem to have that much substance to me that it could go on for about 20 minutes of a 30-minute time slot):::::::

"A sign of this comic strip's popularity, aside from appearing in over 400 newspapers and growing, is the huge support received from fans. In early 1995, the strip did a school fashion show series. On January 14, 1995, Greg called for readers to submit their ideas. Much to his surprise, Greg and his syndicate were swamped with FIFTEEN THOUSAND sketches, in the form of crayon drawings, photos and computer art. With the help of his syndicate, Greg came up with the idea of creating one week’s drawings in four zones around the US, so that the submitted drawings would be featured in their own areas. It was four times the work for a week, but it was also a first in cartooning."

LATER YET -- OK, we found nothing much further except for how he picks topics ... his characters ... how he creates the strip, etc ... oh, well. Anyway, since today's strip was mentioned, here 'tis a copy of it if you didn't see it:

Does sound sort of "pointless" ... hopeless ... doesn't it ... having not found anywhere that Mr. Evans mentions really knowing "what it's all about." Sad if this is so ... but not unlike many in this world into which we're placed to help change that for as many as possible .....................

I used this BC slide at the very end of the service yesterdy morning. My wife heard one of our young visitors (6 or 7 yrs. old), as she went out the front door do a pump with "yes!" At least someone got the message. Face the world with the "Yes!" attitude because of the resurrection of Christ.

Thanks, Cindi, for this slide.

I put the slide in our pre-service announcements and people really liked it.

Jackie and I were just talking about the community sunrise service we attended. It was at a church that is considerably more liturgal than ours and we enjoyed the intentionality of the service. However, we both smiled upon remembering that the minister brought the opening of the service with something like, "Christ is risen, rejoice, rejoice." There was no applause or cheering -- just dry, "rejoice, rejoice."
