It is 8:00 PM your time, and the Indy news is saying a possible tornado is to hit the Odon area at 8:15. You might want to take cover. Let us know how it goes.

The storm is here. Lots of lightning and thunder, but no significant wind so far. We've got our eyes on the western sky and the weather reports.

We've had a lot of this lately.

Things are calming down now. Thanks for your concern. I haven't heard of any damage.

I am glad you are okay. I was watching the weather, and the guy said if you know anyone in the Odon area, to call and alert him or her. I saw you were online, so I thought I would give it a try.

We are having storms almost every night. Very unusual.

By the way, you told me before, but do you get your local news from Vincennes?

It looks like those red cell storms are heading Southeast...right towards Cincinatti and then our way in Southern Ohio.

I appreciate it, Michael. We don't have weather sirens so it's easy to miss the alerts. I weathered one tornado warning cleaning in an attic space and clueless as to what was happening outside. Tonight I happened to turn on the radio after church and heard there was stuff on its way. The recent activity has made us more vigilant.

By the way, you told me before, but do you get your local news from Vincennes?

Vincennes has a public television station but it's the Terre Haute stations that give us the best television coverage, even though they're 60 miles away. The CBS station has a young meteorologist from Odon and the NBC station's anchorwoman is an Odon native. I don't know if that helps, but they do acknowledge that we are in their viewing area and send out a crew for our rare newsworthy events.

For more routine news we rely on the radio and local newspaper.

Personally, I get almost all my news from sources other than television. My observation has been that people who consume a steady diet of television news tend to have a rather negative view of the world. Besides that, I don't have the patience to let someone else determine the schedule and content for my news consumption. 60 seconds of CNN on the radio every morning lets me know whether the world fell to pieces overnight. That and NazNet pretty much hold me until the evening newspaper arrives.

Oh, yes. Terre Haute. I now remember your telling me that earlier.

Regarding news, I was a newspaper-holic for many years. I canceled my subscription about two years ago. I think I shocked my wife. But, I read local and national news onliine now. Even our little local paper has an online version.
