My very favorite is Raised, Glazed, Chocolate Frosted! Umm! My Dad used to buy them for me right after the bakery opened while the doughnut and the chocolate were still warm. Next would be LongJohns/Eclairs, Bavarian and then Boston Cream!

I have an uncle who owned a donut shop and we were lucky enough to be have them quite a bit. I have to say that my favorite is a plain glazed donut. My uncle had a vanilla icing that he put on them that I haven't seen replicated. Next in line would be a plain cake blueberry donut.

How dare you ask this sort of a question to a group of Nazarenes! We are holiness people, get it, holiness people! We don't wear jewelry or makeup, we don't drink or smoke and we sure don't like any sort of donuts. :smilies1098:
Don't you know that donuts go with coffee which is a known stimulant? We don't do drugs either, no sir, no drugs, no coffee, no tv and for sure we aren't listening to any rock music.:smilies1722:
Hopefully you and your reformed friends will enjoy the fact that our boycott of coffee and donuts has kept the prices low.:smilies0295:

What concerns me the most though is this: what if we find out Hans doesn't like any kind of doughnut (or worse yet spells it "donut"?) I would hate for this good man to have to make such a confession on Naznet.
(By the way, when I was a student at Olivet, my fiancee worked at Dunkin Donuts. They did (at least back then) throw out all unsold donuts every four hours. Kay would bring me home a couple dozen every night. Don't worry, I'm not that fat, I didn't eat many of them. But I was one very popular guy on the dorm floor when I would set them out in the hallway and shout "Donuts". (If I had been a religion major, I might have been elected G.S. by now instead of that great fellow student of mine who has been twice elected and twice declined.

Glazed with vanilla icing, then probably Boston Creme. I used to prefer Dunkin' Donuts Creme Filled, but got sea-sick on a fishing trip after having eaten two of them. They didn't look as good the second time around, and they just don't taste the same anymore.

Glazed french Cruller, then cake donut with white icing and sprinkles, the plain and old fashioned.

In our area we have little coffee drive throughs called Dutch Brothers. Perhaps one of Hans' compatriots owns these establishments. God bless Hans through his troubles and trials of trying to understand those Yankees.

Strawberry powdered timbits, canadian maple, jelly filled, jelly filled with icing, bavarian creme, boston creme, powdered, old fashioned cake, powdered, honey dip, glazed, iced cake, and probably more I can't think of right now. How's that for exercising my free will?

I had to settle for a Snickers...no donuts in the house.

Two Dove Chocolate pieces...and a cup of water.
I remember well the year I worked at Dunkin' Donuts. Needed lots of strength to learn to say no to tempation!

I like the dietetic ones that the cake part nice and fluffy and glazed and then partially coated with chocolate. I'm glad that someone started this thread - healthy eating is very important to me.

Publix Supermarkets has a croissant donut, glazed, with the tiniest drizzle of chocolate. Oh. My. Goodness.
As my son-in-law would say, "It's like heaven -- but in your mouth."

During my Kiwanis fund raising days, we made cinnamon donuts at every event in town. I think they turned out to be about 33% grease. We all did our parts. Hey, it was for a good cause. Every time I detect that same odor at some outing, it brings back memories. They still make them at our favorite cider mill and sugar shack in Vermont.

For those who enjoy Bavarian Creams, have you noticed a dirth of this variety in recent years? You cannot seem to find them anywhere but Dunkins. I just love the way the Cream interacts with the powdered sugar and the body of the doughnut. It just isn't the same with Boston!

I don't eat donuts anymore (it has been about 4 years since I had one!!), but when I did, it was Dunkin Donuts white cream filled donuts. Yep, my favorite.
I'm not even tempted by donuts anymore, though, which is good. I can read this thread without the mouth-watering....LOL

If a donut was less than 33% grease, would it even taste good?

I'd give it as low as 28%. Anything below that and we're just kidding ourselves!

Well the 64% sugar, two percent cinnamon, and one percent flour is a workable flavor. You can tell when you mistakenly double the flour.
