Please, pastors, sound techs or anyone: no wired mics anywhere near water!

Kyle Lake, the 33 year old Texas pastor was a regular contributor to Relevant Magazine. He was a very insightful man devote to proclaiming the Gospel and connecting with the post-modern generation. He leaves behind a wife and three kids under the age of 5.
May it be a reminder to us all to life each day to the fullest and to the glory of God!

i don't trust anyone else to set up the mic for Garry - unless it is me or him. Many times i will actually stand to the side and hold the mic outside the bapistry.

I have seen a pastor in a baptistry (in water) hold a wired microphone. The sound system started buzzing a bit as soon as he touched it, but he didn't get shocked. I suspect that if the mic grill had touched his mouth or hand, it would have been a different story.

I honestly think that people forget that the mic's are electric!
I'd rather hear my pastor shout than risk electrocution.
I feel very, very sorry for this pastor's family and his church. It must be horribly traumatic for them all.
